Blissey Is Coming to Pokémon Unite

Pokémon Unite’s second new Pokémon is arriving soon, but it’s not who you might have expected. Fans of the MOBA know that Blastoise will join the roster at some point after release, and most expected it to be the next addition to the roster after Gardevoir arrived a few weeks ago.

Instead of Blastoise, however, the next monster in Pokémon Unite is Blissey. As one of the best Support Pokémon in the main series games, we expect the healing Pokémon to add some much-needed strength to the often overlooked section of the Pokémon Unite roster. While Wigglytuff and Mr. Mime have their uses, a powerful healer may be just what the game needs to balance attack and defense.

The Blissey release date lands on August 18 and will likely be unlocked in the same manner that you unlock all the Pokémon Unite characters – through Aeos Coins, one of the many Pokémon Unite currencies. Players who pour their IRL cash into the game (and are subject to the inevitable pay-to-win debate) will be able to buy Blissey with Gems as well.

Blissey Is Coming to Pokémon Unite

At the moment, most of our Pokémon Unite ranked matches see our four allies insta-lock Speedsters and Attackers, with Zeraora, Gengar, and Pikachu all being popular choices. However, every team needs balance, and if Blissey launches strong, it could help tip the meta in a more defensive direction.

We don’t know whether Blissey will be a physical or special attacker just yet, but its primary focus will be healing allies, so your item choices should reflect that. Check out our lists of the Pokémon Unite held items and battle items for more information, but we’re already eyeing up the Assault Vest/Score Shield/Buddy Barrier combination to maximise Blissey’s HP.

When Blastoise releases, we expect it to be an All-Rounder, so it’s good to see TiMi showing some love to the Support class.

However, this might be the final nail in the coffin for anyone who had hopes of Clefable showing up in the game.
