Genshin Impact 2.4 Update: Leaks, Release Date, and Characters

Looking for the latest Genshin Impact 2.4 update leaks? Though 'Shadows Amidst Snowstorms' has barely begun, the beta test for the upcoming version is not far off, giving us some clues as to the content arriving in 2.4. Long-rumoured characters such as Shenhe and Yun Jin have also been confirmed and previewed on Mihoyo's official social channels, and if the trend remains consistent, that means we're also going to see them in the next version.

The release of the new Eula and Albedo rerun banner for Genshin Impact 2.3 also gives us a consistent element to predict, as we now know that we'll be getting two five-star character reruns alongside the usual two new ones from now on. Considering when characters previously launched, it's not too hard to infer who's due to return next.

In this Genshin Impact 2.4 leaks list, we'll summarise the latest beta leaks, datamining, and rumours surrounding the content coming in the new version; including a release date, new events, characters, and regions.

What Is the Genshin Impact 2.4 Release Date?

While no release date has been announced, it's likely that Genshin Impact 2.4 will release in early January. Each version usually lasts six weeks, with a duration of three weeks for each of the two character banners featured. If we had to predict an exact date based on the usual timing, we would say that the Genshin Impact 2.4 release date is January 5 or thereabouts.

Who Are the Genshin Impact 2.4 Characters?

While nothing is ever certain, the two new Genshin Impact 2.4 characters are Shenhe and Yun Jin. Both have long been rumoured and were featured in the closing cutscene of the Moonchase Festival questline. Here's a little about both of them:

• Yun Jin is the director of one of Liyue Harbor's most popular groups of performers, the Yun-Han Opera Troupe, but she also performs as a singer as well. As previously rumoured, she's a Geo polearm-user, and though we don't know her rarity, it's likely she'll be the four-star character accompanying Shenhe on her banner. Yun Jin is also friends with Xinyan and enjoys rock music.
• Shenhe was previously thought to be the human form of Cloud Retainer, but it turns out she's actually her disciple. Far less was known about Shenhe than Yunjin, but apparently she is from a clan of exorcists, which might imply some connection between her and Chongyun. She's also a Cryo polearm-user and is likely to be a five-star character.

Genshin Intel also tweeted about Arlecchino, a new Fatui Harbinger, who might be appearing in version 2.4. We've also got the returning five-star rerun banner, and this time it's likely to be Xiao and Ganyu, since both are popular characters, but neither have received a rerun yet. If you also follow the order of release, then Ganyu should come next considering Albedo has finally reappeared, 12 months after his initial release.

Genshin Impact 2.4 Enkanomiya Region

For a long time, people expected the next region to be the Chasm in Liyue, considering it's discussed by NPCs and you can even see it on the map. But according to leaks, the new region is likely to be Enkanomiya.

You see, the people of Watatsumi Island used to live in a submerged realm known by that name, worshipping the serpent Orobashi who saved them from an evil dragon. Eventually, those people came to the surface, and the Raiden Shogun killed Orobashi on Yashiori Island (where you can still see his skeleton). Below in a tweet from the dataminer, Blank, you can see the leaked map of the Enkanomiya region.

According to Genshin Impact 2.4 leaks tweeted by UBatcha, instructions from Mihoyo also asked beta players to complete 'The Moon-Bathed Deep', a world quest on Watatsumi Island that involves unlocking a key to Enkanomiya (though you are unable to enter it yourself). This further implies that we'll get to visit the realm in 2.4, especially as the pool that leads to Enkanomiya is already in the game, at the centre of Watatsumi Island's crater.

Genshin Impact 2.4 New Enemies

Lots of leaks surrounding new enemies have surfaced, including a Pyro variant of the Abyss Lector, new Spectre enemies, and an Enkanomiya world boss that consists of two elemental Vishaps it looks like you have to fight at the same time. Genshin Impact 2.4 Event Leaks

Also in the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor Discord are a variety of leaks posted by Ubatcha in relation to version 2.4's events. Apparently both the Windtrace event and the Lantern Rite are returning for a second time, and two new events are coming as well. The first is called 'Over Mountains and Seas' and involves helping out Inazuma's Bake-Tanuki—those racoon-dog creatures who dance and disappear. The second is called 'A Study in Potions' and is all about fighting trial battles while using various concoctions and their affects.

Genshin Impact 2.4 Weapon Leaks

In terms of weapon leaks, there is a new five-star polearm that looks to be Shenhe's weapon, as you can see her wielding it in her character art. There's also been some indication from leakers like Project Celestia that a new weapon type is being developed for Genshin Impact, and could potentially be a crossbow, with Yelan as the first predicted character to wield it.

Genshin Impact 2.4 Skins

Following on from Jean and Barbara's summer skins in Midsummer Island Adventure, Ubatcha believes two new Genshin Impact 2.4 skins are on their way - this time for Ningguang and Keqing. The serial leaker thinks these skins could release during the next Lantern Rite event in February, with the Keqing skin being paid and the Ningguang skin being free.
