What was once a limited-time event in Rainbow Six Siege, known as Outbreak, can now be better known as it's own game completely: Rainbow Six Extraction. The title launched on January 20, 2022, and oversees players use characters and weapons familiar to Siege in a totally unfamiliar environment.

Swapping out countering terrorism for instead countering a new alien threat that is putting the human race at risk, Extraction has players assess the parasite in a PvE co-operative shooter. All Operators are members of REACT, tasked with carrying out Incursions to acquire more information about the parasite, and thus, defeat it.

Extraction supports cross-platform play, and employs cross-progression. So, you can pick the game up on console or PC and play on either, or play with friends no matter what platform they're on. You won't find the game on Steam though, so here's how to download and install Rainbow Six Extraction on PC.

How to Download Rainbow Six Extraction on PC

There are two ways to get your hands on Rainbow Six Extraction. You can download and install the game on your PC in two ways:

Ubisoft Connect

First and foremost, you should probably have Ubisoft's very own launcher - Ubisoft Connect - installed. You can then purchase the game from their website, here, or use the Ubisoft Connect app. Once purchased, you'll be able to download and install the full version of the game to your PC, and will be able to launch it using the Ubisoft Connect app.

Don't forget, all owners of the full version of the game get two Buddy Pass tokens that they can use to invite a friend to play alongside them for up to 14 days.

Xbox Game Pass

Fortunate for many of us, Rainbow Six Extraction is an Xbox Game Pass release, coming to the pass on both Xbox and PC from day one. You might login to the Xbox app on your PC to see that you can't find Rainbow Six Extraction anywhere. This is because you need to have linked your Xbox account to your Ubisoft account in order for the game to appear available for download.

After having connected your accounts to each other, you'll be able to find and install Extraction for free on your Xbox or PC using Game Pass.

That's all you need to know about getting Rainbow Six Extraction installed on your PC! We also discuss whether the game can be played single-player, what Ubisoft have planned for the future of the title in their roadmap, and we shared some tips and tricks to aid newcomers, too.
