There was a bit more uncertainty swirling around Genshin Impact 1.6

That could be because closed test betas only recently started for Chinese players, though miHoYo also promised to crack down on leakers after the last beta.

Some details that had broken through turned out to be false, though we still had a general idea of what to expect

Genshin Impact 1.6 Release Date

Genshin Impact 1.6 will release on June 9.

Genshin Impact 1.6 Inazuma

Update - 28 May

Genshin Impact 1.6 won't introduce Inazuma after all, but it will feature the introductory mission where Kazuha and Beidou help the Traveler figure out how to sneak into the new region.

We've covered it in more detail here.

Update - 17 May

The latest rumors from the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor suggest Inazuma won't actually be coming until Genshin Impact 1.7 or later. The poster couldn't add specifics, as miHoYo is cracking down on leaks with legal action.

The leak also said Inazuma won't be released in one big patch.

Instead, miHoYo will gradually roll it out in a few patches, which is also when we'll see Ayaka and Yoimiya.

That fits with our original information that said miHoYo would be releasing an introductory area first that's outside Inazuma.

Original Story

If these rumors are true, then it seems Genshin Impact 1.6 is finally when we’ll see the Inazuma region added to the game.

And it’s likely these rumors are true, if only because there are so many now.

From new Inazuma-specific characters to new methods of travel exclusive to Inazuma, it’s looking increasingly more certain now and less like pure speculation.

Inazuma is reportedl less welcoming than Mondstadt and Liyue, with the Traveler having to sneak in, at least initially.

Why this is the case and whether Inazuma remains hostile is still a mystery, but Inazuma will happen in two parts.

There's an initial archipelago that acts as a gateway to the larger region, though no one has any intel on how big Inazuma actually is.

Genshin Impact 1.6 Characters

Most leakers have settled on three new characters for the Genshin Impact 1.6 update:

  • Kazuha — five-star Anemo (check out more about Kazuha)
  • Ayaka — five-star Cryo
  • Yoimiya — possibly five-star Pyro

There’s some uncertainty about Yoimiya, however.

The most recent leaks suggest Yoimiya doesn’t actually exist (though the 1.7 leaks say she does).

Instead, some datamined files have been found that show a Klee banner re-run will take place during Genshin 1.6.

That makes sense, considering miHoYo has never released three five-star characters at once.

Finally, a few rumblings suggest Ayaka is actually planned for later and might not appear during 1.6 at all.

That, too, would be in keeping with miHoYo’s previous patterns of releasing one five-star character and at least one new four-star character per major update.

Genshin Impact 1.6 Dendro Character?

What’s even less certain is the addition of Genshin’s first Dendro character.

Most of the rumors point to Kazua, Ayaka, and Yoimiya as the main new characters, neither of whom wields Dendro as their elemental power.

Baizhu is probably coming to Genshin Impact at some point, though now it seems that’ll be in the 1.7 update or later.

Genshin Impact 1.6 Boats

Update - May 13

Twitter user Project Celestia found new information about the Genshin Impact 1.6 gadgets that points to boats being more than just transportation methods. A section of the in-game interface shows several actions relating to boat travel, including firing weapons of different sizes.

Genshin Impact 1.6 will reportedly include another major feature connected with Inazuma: boat travel.

How it works is still up in the air, though.

Some suggest you won’t be able to travel about freely in boats, that the new system just ferries you to and fro.

However, other dataminers from the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor Discord server found evidence of items and gadgets used to repair boats, which points to a more active seagoing affair.

These rumors also say Beidou will help the Traveler infiltrate Inazuma using boats, which will act as an introduction to the mechanic.

Genshin Impact 1.6 New Bosses

We know there’s bound to be at least one new boss in the next update, but there’s no telling what they may be yet.

Genshin Impact 1.6 New Weapons

Leakers found evidence of at least three new weapons in Genshin Impact 1.6.

The first is said to be Kazuha’s best weapon, the Boreas Precocity sword, aka the Freedom Sword Sword.

It’s a five-star sword that generates special stacks during Elemental Reactions, then uses those to increase party damage output.

The other two are four-star weapons, a catalyst and bow thought to be for Klee and Fischl.

Other Changes in Genshin Impact 1.6

miHoYo held a Q&A session at the end of April and mentioned a few changes are in store for Genshin's Elemental Reactions. In an effort to balance Reactions and make them both more dynamic and more powerful, miHoYo is adding the following changes:

  • When a character reaches Level 60 or above, the damage caused by major reactions (i.e. Electro-Charged, Superconduct, Overloaded, Swirl, and Shatter) will be increased.
  • The Base Shield DMG Absorption for shields generated by Crystallize reactions will be increased.
  • The DMG Bonus provided by Elemental Mastery for major reactions will be increased. (Refer to the attributes panel in-game for the exact DMG Bonus amount)

These are currently being tested in the 1.6 beta.

Genshin Impact 1.6 Free Primogems?

More rumors from the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor Discord say that you'll get 10 Primogems for every character added to your teapot.

However, the number of characters you can add to the pot will depend on trust, ranging from one character at rank one trust up to four characters for ranks seven through 10.
