MiHoYo is better known for Genshin Impact, but back in 2016, they made a name for themselves with Honkai Impact 3rd. Available on Android, iOS and PC, it's still seeing regular updates, and its recent one has caused a bigger stir than they could've ever anticipated.
This morning, details have emerged regarding an alleged assassination attempt at their Shanghai studio. Reportedly, MiHoYo's HQ was accessed by a man with a knife, who planned to kill both of MiHoYo's founders, then himself.

His motive? A recent update that added bunny costumes and dance moves. This wasn't applied to the update in China, and its speculated that authorities would've deemed it inappropriate. However, Chinese players still got wind of it, sparking a backlash that led to its removal.
MiHoYo quickly backtracked on their plans, issuing the above statement and offering 500 Crystals as compensation to players. However, that wasn't enough for this assailant, and their planned attack occurred two days later.
Thankfully, this assailant was quickly arrested upon entry. Presently, we're awaiting more details about the incident, and it's likely those will emerge in the coming days.
