Genshin Impact keeps bringing updates on the main story and expanding the rich world of Teyvat, showing us more of its places and people.
The next update, called Midsummer Island Adventure, will arrive on June 9th and it will take the Traveler and Paimon into uncharted territory, this time in a new means of transportation by water, and introducing new gameplay elements and characters.
Genshin Impact 1.6 Update - Midsummer Island Adventure
Update - June 7
miHoYo released new information about the 1.6 event requirements Coinciding with the 1.6 pre-load going live.
The new island area is only available as part of the 1.6 update and will vanish after the update ends toward the end of summer.
You'll need to be Adventure Rank 21 to access the area and events, and you'll also need to have completed Song of Dragon and Freedom quest plus the first part of Klee's story quest Trifolium.
Fortunately, miHoYo is reducing the Adventure Rank requirement for Klee's quest to 21 for the update's duration.
A new Trailer video about the upcoming 1.6 Update released earlier today, and players received new bits of information about what’s coming to Genshin Impact.
In this new chapter, the story will see Klee receiving a threat from the mysterious Dodo-King, who apparently wants to take Dodoco away from her. To avoid that, the Traveler will sail on a Waverider, a boat that will enable players to explore a secluded archipelago, in search of the Dodoland.
During this adventure, a series of challenges will occur, including a tough fight with Maguu Kenki, a new opponent who can deal both Anemo and Cryo damage and can only be taken down while in close-range combat.
Completing these challenges will award players with event currency to buy different resources and the brand-new four-star catalyst Dodoco Tales in the Event Shop.
New Playable Character - Kaedehara Kazuha
The first playable character from Inazuma, Kazuha, will also make his debut in Version 1.6. An Anemo Sword user, Kazuha is a powerful character who can provide strong control and additional buffs to the team. He will be featured in a new Archon Quest, where he travels with Beidou and her Crux Fleet, providing clues about the way to the closed-off Inazuma.

Genshin 1.6 Trailer
miHoYo provided a lengthy trailer highlighting many of the update's big changes:
New Features & Improvements
New features and optimizations will be added in Version 1.6, including a new feature of the Serenitea Pot that will allow you to invite characters so they can reside in the realm within, where they will gradually accumulate Character Companionship Experience over time.
On top of that, two summer-themed alternative outfits will also be added for Jean and Barbara. Jean's outfit "Sea Breeze Dandelion" will be available for purchase in the in-game Shop at a limited-time discount, and Barbara's outfit "Summertime Sparkle" will be free to claim by completing the Echoing Tales event.
Finally, miHoYo is adding a new boss, Maguu Kenki. You'll need to defeat it to obtain Kazuha's Ascension materials.
While 1.6 will bring more than enough new content, there’s the obvious lingering question: what about Inazuma?
More concept art about Inazuma, the third major city in Genshin Impact, and its surrounding areas have been revealed to fans in the latest live stream. Numerous islands were shown, named as follows:
- Narukami Island
- Seirai Island
- Tsurumi Island
- Watatsumi Island
It is confirmed that 1.6 won’t be the release of the new region, but it is also stated that Kazuha’s Archon Quest will answer some of our questions about this region, like clues about its location and the way to travel there.
Keen-eyed observers may have also noticed the appearance of a new mysterious character looking suspiciously similar to Yae Sakura, a character from MiHoYo’s Honkai Impact 3rd. Is this just a coincidence? Could it be more than that? Only time will tell, so keep your eyes open and we will update you on it as soon as there’s new information!
Genshin Impact's Version 1.6 update, Midsummer Island Adventure, will be arriving on June 9, 2021, for PC, Android, iOS, PlayStation®4, and PlayStation®5.
