Shortly after selling over two million copies in less than two weeks, Valheim has now hit three million in a little over a fortnight.
That's impressive, but perhaps even bigger is the game's peak concurrent players – 502,387. That's right, over half a million players have been enjoying the game at once.
Valheim Sells Over 3 Million Copies, Higher Concurrent Players Than DOTA 2
That figure means the game is currently more popular on Steam than DOTA 2, itself a juggernaut when it comes to concurrent players.
In fact, the most popular game on Steam, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, may well be looking over its shoulder.
Steam Charts appears to still be processing the data, but Valheim seems to grow stronger every day.

The CEO of Iron Gate Studio, Richard Svensson, recently commented on why he thinks Valheim has amounted to such success:
“Valheim is a cooperative game about exploring a huge rather colorful world with very few borders or limits, that's been released during a global pandemic when a lot of people are locked inside their homes and unable to see their friends and family."
"Hopefully being clubbed by a troll together will make them feel better."
In our review, we called Valheim an early access game with "a lot to love".
"There's a wealth of content, some impressively deep systems, and an ever-expanding community, it feels like the sky is the limit."
"It's perfect to share with friends and can be wonderfully meditative when played solo."
"If you like survival, Vikings and a bright future with constant updates, Valheim is the game for you."
Valheim is the next Viking title to take Steam by storm, there are plenty of plans for the future with the 2021 roadmap. You can even set up a dedicated server and play with your friends in coop! If bosses interest you, there's already four in the game Eikthyr, the Elder, Bonemass and Modor, you'll require plenty of items along the way like the Swamp Key.
