What is the best Genshin Impact Baal build? Like other Archons before her, Baal excels as a support character and recharges energy for party members with her Burst. Unlike other Archons, Baal's Burst also turns her into a powerful DPS character while it's active.
As with any Archon, Baal is powerful right out of the proverbial box. However, the best Baal build in Genshin Impact will focus on maximizing her potential as either support or DPS in a party designed to suit her special abilities.

What Are the Best Baal Builds?
Below are two theory builds of Baal based on the information we know about her so far. One treats her as support and the other as a DPS character. Baal's stats mean she can sweep the field on her own, but her skills excel at setting up reactions and recharging your party's energy.
|Role||Best Weapon||Alternative Weapon||Best Artifacts||Alternative Artifacts|
|Support DPS||Skyward Spine||Kitain Cross Spear||The Exile||Gambler|
|DPS||Grasscutter's Light||Kitain Cross Spear||Thundering Fury||Gladiator's Finale|
How Do I Get Baal in Genshin Impact?
The Genshin Impact Baal release date is September 1, and she will be obtainable by spending wishes in the upcoming Event Banner, called “Reign of Serenity”, which will feature her alongside another new character, Sara, up until September 21. Good luck obtaining her!
Will Baal Get a Rerun?
Mihoyo gave the previous two Archons rerun banners a few months after their initial release. If you don't get Baal during her banner, you'll likely have a chance again in the not-so-distant future.
What Are the Best Team Comps for Baal?
You can approach Baal team comp in a few ways thanks to her flexible nature as support and high DPS.
Baal DPS Team Comp
The DPS route would involve the usual Pyro and Hydro characters to take advantage of Baal's Electro skill and Burst.
Diluc is a good Pyro choice.
- Unleash his skill to get Pyro on as many enemies as possible, then switch to Baal and use Baleful Light to trigger Overload on them in one go.
- The Eye's lingering effects give Diluc a chance to continue triggering Overload with his Skill and Burst
Barbara, Xingqiu, or Kokomi make good Hydro companions since each can easily apply Wet to enemies just by moving in close proximity to them.
- Activate the Eye, then switch to Barbara or Kokomi for constant Electro-Charged until the Eye's effect fades.
Kazuha's Burst triggers a regular round of Anemo damage. All you need to do for this is activate the Eye, then use Kazuha's Burst for several Swirl reactions.
The last slot is a freebie, but we opted for Electro to get the Elemental Resonance benefit from it. Keep mind that Baal's Burst ability won't work with characters like Beidou or the Electro version of Aether/Lumine
Baal Support Team Comp
Baal's Burst powers up after other members use their own Bursts and help restore their energy, so your support team could look different depending on what you want out of the setup.
One possible composition involves using characters with high Energy recovery.
The goal is firing off their Bursts, then using Baal's super-powered Burst. That, in turn, recharges the other party members so you can keep using this cycle until you've vanquished your foe.
What Are the Best Weapons for Baal?
Whatever your choice for Baal's build, don't neglect her impressive attack power. The base stat is 26, meaning she rivals Diluc and Eula as one of the game's strongest characters. As with many other unique figures, Baal has a weapon that's meant for her, though it's not the only one the Electro Archon can make good use of.
|Weapon||Rarity||Stats||Effect||How to Obtain|
|Engulfing Lightning||Five-Star||Base ATK/Energy Recharge||Attack increases by 56% of Energy recharge. Gain 50% recharge for 12s after using a Burst||Wish|
|Kitain Cross Spear||Four-Star||Base ATK/Elemental Mastery||Increases Skill damage, restores Energy||Forge|
|Skyward Spine||Five-Star||Base ATK/Energy Recharge||Increases CRIT rate, may trigger additional damage||Wish|
Given the nature of the game, your best bet is starting with Kitain Cross Spear and then saving your Wishes for other weapons or characters. You can augment Baal's recharge with Artifacts, and forging weapons instead of spending Primogems is always a good thing.
What Are the Best Artifacts for Baal?
Baal's best Artifacts increase her Electro damage and the capacity for your party to chain Skills and Bursts quickly. Thundering Fury is a good choice for DPS Baal, but the two-piece effect works with support too. Even if your goal is turning Baal into a battery, you might as well make use of the damage her Burst lets her deal.
Gambler is better for DPS Baal since you can keep chaining her skill with the four-piece effect.
|Artifact Set||Two-Piece Effect||Four-Piece Effect|
|The Exile||Energy Recharge +20%||Using an Elemental Burst regenerates 2 Energy for all party members (excluding the wearer) every 2s for 6s|
|Gambler||Energy Recharge +20%||Defeating an opponent has 100% chance to remove Elemental Skill CD. Can only occur once every 15s.|
|Thundering Fury||Electro damage +15%||Increases damage caused by Overloaded, Electro-Charged and Superconduct by 40%. Triggering such effects decreases Elemental Skill CD by 1s. Can only occur once every 0.8s.|
What Are Baal's Artifact Stats?
As with any Artifact, you want to focus on specific stats that match your Baal build. Pay close attention to the goblets and sand items to make sure you don't get the wrong element if you opt for Elemental damage increases.
|Sands of Eon||Energy Recharge or Elemental Mastery|
|Goblet||Elemental Damage Bonus|
|Circlet||Elemental Mastery or Attack|
What Are Baal's Skills and Talents?
Baal is both a strong support unit and a DPS attacker. Her Elemental Skill deals AoE Electro damage and lingers on after switching out, while her Burst both gains power from other Bursts used and recharges your party members so they can use Burst again faster.
|Normal Attack||Up to 5 consecutive spear strikes|
|Charged Attack||Consumes stamina to perform an upward slash|
|Plunging Attack||Strikes the ground and deals AoE damage to nearby enemies|
|Elemental Skill: Transcendence: Baleful Light||Deals AoE Electro damage and activates Eye of Judgment. The Eye deals AoE Electro damage when the character strikes an opponent. Attacks occur every 0.9s|
|Elemental Burst: Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu||Baal deals AoE Electro damage and enters Musou Isshin state and her spear turns into a sword. Normal, charged, and plunging attacks deal Electro damage. Each hit generates Energy for the party every 1s and can happen 5 times during the Burst. Party member bursts build Resolve stacks which increase the Secret Art's power.|
|Talent #1: Wishes Unnumbered||When party members gain Elemental orbs or particles, Baal gains 2 Resolve stacks|
|Talent #2: Enlightened One||Each 1% above 100% Energy Recharge grants 0.6% recharge from Musou Isshin and 0.4% Electro damage bonus|
|Passive Talent||Ascending swords and polearms costs 50% less Mora|
What Are Baal's Constellations?
If you roll Baal more than once, you'll unlock her true potential, though she is admittedly just fine without any Constellations. Here's what to expect if your luck holds true, though.
|Ominous Inscription||Increases Resolve earned through Bursts by 80% for Electro characters and 20% for other elements|
|Pledge of Propriety||Party (except Baal) gains attack +30% for 10s after Musou Isshin ends|
|Shinkage Bygones||Increases Musou Shinsetsu's level by 3|
|Steelbreaker||During Musou Isshin, Baal's attacks ignore 60% of opponent DEF|
|Shogun's Descent||Increases Baleful Light's level by 3|
|Wishbearer||During Musou Isshin, Baal's attacks decrease Burst cooldown for party by 1s. Triggers every 1s for a total of 5 times|
What Are the Baal Character Ascension Materials?
Baal uses a mix of old and new items in her Ascension. Tenkumo Fruit grows on Serai island, which will reportedly be introduced in the 2.1 update, while Storm Beads come from the Thunder Manifestation boss.
Ascending Baal boosts her HP, Attack, and Energy Recharge stats more than anything else, which is a welcomed improvement that makes her a very versatile unit. Farming the Thunder Manifestation can take a while, but improving her is well worth the effort.
|Ascension Rank||Required Level||Required Materials|
|1||20||20000 Mora, Vajrada Amethyst Sliver x1, Tenkumo Fruit x3, Old Handguard x3|
|2||50||40000 Mora, Vajrada Amethyst Fragment x3, Storm Beads x2, Tenkumo Fruit x10, Old Handguard x15|
|3||60||60000 Mora, Vajrada Amethyst Fragment x6, Storm Beads x4, Tenkumo Fruit x20, Kageuchi Handguard x12|
|4||70||80000 Mora, Vajrada Amethyst Chunk x3, Storm Beads x8, Tenkumo Fruit x30, Kageuchi Handguard x18|
|5||80||100000 Mora, Vajrada Amethyst Chunk x6, Storm Beads x12, Tenkumo Fruit x45, Famed Handguard x12|
|6||90||120000 Mora, Vajrada Amethyst Gemstone x6, Storm Beads x20, Tenkumo Fruit x60, Famed Handguard x24|
What Are Baal's Talent Level Up Materials?
These are still under wraps for now, though thanks to Honey Hunter, we know Baal uses Handguard items and Light-series materials.
An important part of building Baal is remembering to level up her talents and abilities. The order in which you go about this will change slightly depending on the role you expect her to play in your team, but here's the most common Baal talent upgrade order:
- Elemental Skill
- Elemental Burst
- Normal Attack
|Daily Drops||Enemy Drops||Weekly Drops|
|Teachings/Guide/Philosophies of Light||Old/ Kageuchi/ Famed Handguard||???|
