Now that Genshin Impact 2.5 is out in the wild, it's time to speculate about the upcoming Genshin Impact Yelan release date, and the best potential Yelan build for the future. It's far too early to draw any conclusions, but as we're only set to see more of this character over time, it doesn't hurt to dig into the weeds a little.
As a word of warning, barely anything you read regarding the Genshin Impact Yelan release date is built on fact. Not right now, at least. As Mihoyo reveals more and more about this brand-new character we only know of from data files right now, we'll update this page with everything we know about Yelan.

Who is Yelan in Genshin Impact? - Genshin Impact Yelan Lore
Despite her model being included in the Genshin Impact 2.6 build, there's still an awful lot we don't know about this the Genshin Impact Yelan lore. For instance, her name was first discovered way back in the 2.1 patch cycle's Moonchase event. Most assumed she was simply a background character who needed a name, but as it turns out, that wasn't true at all.

The latest patch has brought the Genshin Impact Yelan character back into the spotlight, and we know have a very clear idea of how she'll look in-game. There's still no publically accessible in-game text talking about her - no voice lines from any character, or even flavour text on artifacts or items - but her highly detailed model is enough to insist that she'll be a playable character with plenty of deep and detailed storylines just like any other.
The only thing we can glean from the Genshin Impact Yelan model is that she's a Vision holder from the Liyue region. With The Chasm area looking more and more likely to open up in upcoming patches, we expect her to have something to do with it.
What Is Yelan's Weapon Type? - Genshin Impact Yelan Weapon
The Genshin Impact Yelan weapon type right now looks to be the simple Bow.
Earlier leaks insisted she'd use a more sophisticated crossbow as a weapon, but with the obvious lack of the weapon type in the game right now, it's not looking likely that she'll be the one to pioneer its use.
Further supporting that is a new bow that leaks would suggest look to match the style of her model.
What Is Yelan's Element? - Genshin Impact Yelan Element
With the Genshin Impact Yelan model (put together by Twitter user @anonsbelle) from clearly showing off the Hydro Vision on her hip, it's clear that Yelan's element will be Hydro. It's possible that this could change for the final release, but it's unlikely.
As for how the eventual Yelan element will work in battle, it's hard to say. The only other Hydro Bow user right now is Childe, but given that he has the unique trait of turning the bow into a pair of daggers for melee strikes, there isn't really a reliable way to envisage what Yelan will bring to a team. We'll get speculating soon enough.
What Moves Will Yelan Have? - Genshin Impact Yelan Abilities
Given that her in-game model has only just surfaced, it's still far too early to say what the Genshin Impact Yelan abilities will look like at launch. Realistically, we can't see her being a heavy DPS option until she has a similar gimmick to Childe. Instead, expect her to have the mobility of Mona or the pseudo-support skills of Xingqiu.
Some recent leaks support these theories as well. It seems her Burst may be Lingering Lifeline, an ability that marks enemies and restores Yelan's Energy. At C2, this ability gains an extra charge. However, sources also suggest Yelan's Skill has a press and hold feature, so this could be her Skill instead.
Another leak mentions a "coordinated attack" bonus tied to the Exquisite Throw ability, though details on this are a bit less certain.
One of Yelan's passive talents increases her HP by a set amount depending on the elemental variety in your party. She's reportedly a support unit, though this particular aspect makes it sound as if Hoyoverse expects us to have her on the field rather often.

What's the Best Genshin Impact Yelan Build?
Pushing for a Yelan build is still a tall order given her stats and Constellations could change between now and her release, but we have enough information to make some educated guesses.
Best Yelan Weapon
|Weapon||Secondary Stat||Passive Skill|
|Aqua Simulacra||Critical Damage||Increases HP by 16%. When an opponent is nearby, the damage this weapon deals increases by 20%|
|Sacrificial Bow||Energy Recharge||After dealing damage to an opponent with an Elemental Skill, the skill has a 40~80% chance to end its own CD. Can only occur once every 30~16s.|
|Hamayumi||Attack||Increases Normal Attack DMG by 16~32% and Charged Attack DMG by 12~24%. When the equipping character's Energy reaches 100%, this effect is increased by 100%|
It's pretty clear Hoyoverse intends the Aqua Simulacra as Yelan's weapon. The increase to HP translates to higher damage for her Skill and Burst, and as a DPS unit, Yelan is always going to be near foes, meaning she gets an automatic 20 percent damage boost.
Hamayumi is a good F2P alternative that boosts Yelan's normal and charged damage. It fits nicely with her Burst, which triggers when she uses a normal attack, and makes using charged attacks for the Breakthrough effect even more worthwhile.
Best Yelan Artifacts
|Artifacts||Two-Piece Effect||Four-Piece Effect|
|Noblesse Oblige||Elemental Burst DMG +20%||Using an Elemental Burst increases all party members' ATK by 20% for 12s. This effect cannot stack.|
|Echoes of an Offering||Attack +18%||When Normal Attacks hit opponents, there is a 36% chance that it will trigger Valley Rite, which will increase Normal Attack DMG by 70% of ATK. This effect will be dispelled 0.05s after a Normal Attack deals DMG. If a Normal Attack fails to trigger Valley Rite, the odds of it triggering the next time will increase by 20%. This trigger can occur once every 0.2s.|
There are still some questions lingering over Yelan's Artifacts. She seems very much like a character who will probably have a new set intended just for her, and we don't know whether Heart of Depth will apply to her Hydro damage, since her Skill and Burst scale based solely on her HP.
So for now, we're recommending Noblesse Oblige for the boost to her Burst and the overall damage boost for the party (and especially Yelan). The new Echoes of an Offering set is also a solid choice considering you'll be using normal attacks while her Burst is in play anyway.
And that's about it for this one right now. It's still early days yet, but we have a fairly decent understanding of when the Genshin Impact Yelan release date could be, as well as her potential weapon type and element.
