Kamisato Ayato will arrive in the first banner of the Zephyr of the Violet Garden event. His sister, Kamisato Ayaka, will have her own banner a few weeks after.

Who Is Kamisato Ayato in Genshin Impact?

As the name would suggest, Kamisato Ayato is a relative of Kamisato Ayaka - a playable character who released earlier in the 2.X patch series centered around the Japan-inspired Inazuma region.

In fact, Kamisato Ayato is Ayaka's older brother. While Ayaka took over the front-facing duties of their clan following the death of their parents, Ayato went on to deal with more political matters within the government.

Kamisato Ayato bonds well with Thoma, who refers to him as "My Lord" in Aratakki Itto's pre-release teaser.

If you want to hear little quips about Kamisato Ayato before his release, listen out for voicelines from Ayaka, Raiden Shogun, Sayu, Thoma, and Arataki Itto.

What Weapon Type is Kamisato Ayato in Genshin Impact?

The recent PV reveal of Kamisato Ayato showed the latest Genshin Impact character to be adept with a sword just like his sister, so expect some swift slashes when you get your hands on him. As for which weapon is best for Kamisato Ayato, that's hard to say without knowing his skillset. We'll have to wait for a clear answer to that question.

Kamisato Ayato's Elemental Burst is Kamisato Art: Suiyuu. That's on top of their Elemental Skill, Kyouka, and their base attack, Marobashi. We'll have more details on how each of these moves work once Kamisato Ayato arrives in the game.

What Element is Kamisato Ayato in Genshin Impact?

Again, the recent PV reveal has proven that Kamisato Ayato wields a Hydro Vision in battle, meaning that's the element he'll command in his skills. Expect to get wet.

With his sister Ayaka using a Cryo Vision, the two will synergize well. It'll be the first time players will be able to have blood relatives team up together in their squad, so there's a chance some unique voicelines will play when they're both riffing off of each other's attacks, dousing enemies with Hydro and then freeezing them in place with Cryo.

What Is the Best Ayato Build in Genshin Impact?

Ayato is a five-star DPS Hydro character. His attacks are split between dealing normal damage and dealing Hydro damage for a brief time during his Elemental Skill and for an extended time during his Burst. Ayato's attack is decent enough where you can get good results from normal and charged attacks, but your best bet is building him around both.

Weapon Effect
Primordial Jade CutterBoosts max HP and grants attack bonus based on HP
Haran Geppaku FutsuGrants Elemental damage bonus. Higher bonus if used after another character uses their Skill
Amenoma KageuchiBoosts attack and grants Succession Seeds that restore Energy

The new Haran sword is, surprisingly, not the best choice for Ayato if you happen to have the Jade Cutter lying around. Ayato's skill damage scales based on HP, so the attack and HP bonus the Cutter grants simply can't be beat.

Artifacts Effect
Heart of Depth2-Piece Set Hydro DMG Bonus +15% 4-Piece Set After using Elemental Skill, increases Normal Attack and Charged Attack DMG by 30% for 15s.
Echoes of an Offering2-Piece: ATK +18%. 4-Piece: When Normal Attacks hit opponents, there is a 36% chance that it will trigger Valley Rite, which will increase Normal Attack DMG by 70% of ATK. This effect will be dispelled 0.05s after a Normal Attack deals DMG. If a Normal Attack fails to trigger Valley Rite, the odds of it triggering the next time will increase by 20%. This trigger can occur once every 0.2s.

Heart of Depth is a safe, standard choice, but Echoes of an Offering could potentially deal much higher damage. Ayato only uses normal attacks during his Skill, and uses them with high frequency. The Artifact's 4-piece effect triggers ever half second, which means you consistently have a good chance of dealing significant damage.
