Many GTA Online players have dedicated themselves to grinding away and become the game’s richest business mogul, someone with enough cash stashed away to spend the rest of their days playing tennis.

Naturally, with every new update to the game, these money-hungry individuals are always on the lookout for fresh ways to boost their passive income and fill their pockets with enough wonga to buy multiple superyachts.

Now, it seems as though these peculiar people have gotten lucky once again, as a player on Reddit thinks they’ve found a novel new way of obtaining the Benjamins.

Fancy bagging yourself some quick cash? Follow that plane!

The thread on this topic in the GTA Online subreddit began with a post from the player in question, user Federal_Comedian_212, who shared an image of a downed plane on the seabed, captioning it: “I saw a plane crashing and found two briefcases (in it) (each gave me $25k). I have 1.3k hours in this game, but I’ve never seen anything like that.”

Some of their GTA peers replied to suggest that this is because the plane crash in question is part of a brand new random event, with user _Abe_Froman_SKOC saying: “(That) literally just started today” and SATX-Batman adding: “They've added a lot of random events since the last update.”

User Rawtoast420 asked the question on everyone’s minds: “Where did you find these planes crashed or crashing?” leading Federal_Comedian_212 to reply that they encountered it near the RON Alternates Wind Farm on the eastern side of the map.

Meanwhile, user bepi_s asked an equally important question: “Does it have a story behind it?” prompting a wave of speculation from the GTA community’s top air crash investigators.

User 14meowez88 kicked this off by suggesting that the crashing planes could be players doing smuggling missions who somehow didn’t complete their task properly, while AccomplishedDish1271 turned to the ever-present menace that is griefers as an explanation for their unfortunate demise.

On the other hand, user IndianaGroans had a slightly more unique theory, saying: “maybe they flew into one of the towers out in Blaine county like an (idiot), because they were eating chilli and using a controller with one hand and tried to continue to fly it, but crashed and died because the engine caught fire. Or something…”
