Summer Update Release Date Delayed
Though initially planned for release on July 19, it seems the GTA Online Summer update has been delayed. The current GTA Online event will run until July 26.
It seems likely this is the new date for the update.
Summer Update Release Date May Have Leaked
Tez2, a well-known Rockstar reporter and leaker, has revealed that they believed the next update would arrive on July 19, 2022. This was done in a quote tweet of their previous Tweet complaining of the relative emptiness of Red Dead Redemption 2 updates.
This now seems to have changed. It was likely true at the time - a sign of Rockstar's shifting focus.
What is the GTA Online Summer Update?
After weeks of leaks and speculation, Rockstar Games has shared information on the Summer Update. Known as The Criminal Enterprises, the update adds new missions along with significant expansions to a range of businesses.

The Summer update tends to be a particularly big one. It tends to be quite anticipated due to the huge size and all the rewards that come with it. You can expect plenty of 2X cash/XP events to take part in.
In a news update on the Rockstar site, the team stated that the new update will have a focus on expanding the "Criminal Careers of Executive, Biker, Gunrunner, and Nightclub Owner"
GTA Online Summer Update 2022 Release Date
Although we don't have a release date just yet, we're expecting it to arrive around the middle of July. Last year's event started on Tuesday, July 20.
With this in mind, we imagine this year's event will start on Tuesday, July 19. This fits with current reports.
What was last year's GTA Online Summer Update?
Last year, we saw the arrival of the Los Santos Tuners DLC. This came with a handful of new characters, races, events, and tonnes of extra content. Generally, we can expect this year's update to be of a similar scale.
