While many GTA Online players are far too dedicated themselves to grinding away and becoming the game’s richest business mogul or biggest tennis star to notice subtle changes in Los Santos, it seems some are more eagle-eyed.
Naturally, with every new update to the game, a few understated events and occurrences fly under the radar for those not in this exclusive club, only becoming common knowledge once they've hit sites like Reddit.
Currently causing a stir in the GTA community is an interesting little glitch that seems to have caused Halloween to arrive early for some players.
GTA player bamboozled by lone pumpkin’s premature appearance
The thread on this topic in the GTA Online subreddit began with a post from user BlackSoapBandit, who shared an image of a lone pumpkin they’d encountered outside of a gun store, captioning it: “Is this an easter egg or something? Found this at the Ammu-Nation by the military base right after the new solo sessions update.”
Some of their GTA peers were quick to point out that the pumpkin probably shouldn't be there yet, with one user saying: “apparently the jack o’ lanterns are supposedly due to come out around Halloween”, to which NahLoso responded: “Lowe's had all their Halloween decor out this weekend, so it's time.”
Others lined up to make an array of jokes based on BlackSoapBandit’s suggestion that the find could be an easter egg, with the likelihood of the pumpkin hiding a chocolatey core being called into question.
On the other hand, appropriately named user aheadisfullofghosts asked the crucial question: “DID YOU SMASH IT??”, prompting BlackSoapBandit to respond: “I shot at it a couple of times but the bullets went through it. Never thought to kick it though.”
Meanwhile, a few users speculated as to what Rockstar’s Halloween plans for GTA could look like this year, with Gunbladelad saying: “OK, they went for UFOs and killer clowns last year - maybe this year they'll have some unlockable for destroying all the Jack O'Lanterns like they had in Bully.”
Adding to this user JoeyAKangaroo suggested: “(It could be a) future collectable, you unlock a mask & a t-shirt for getting them all & each has a random effect, (for example) tasing you, making you really high, killing you & (turning you into a) peyote plant.”
