Epic Games chose to introduce crows in Fortnite at the beginning of the current season. Although these birds served no major purpose, the Fortnite 18.10 update brought some interesting changes to them in the game.
Just like the other animals on the island, the crows would drop meat upon being killed. However, after yesterday's update, this has slightly changed.
The crows in Fortnite Season 8
After the Fortnite 18.10 update, crows are now starting to drop loot. There are two types of crows available on the island right now.
One is a golden crow and the other is a purple crow. Both these birds drop Legendary and Epic variant weapons based on their color.
This move does shake things up a lot in Fortnite Season 8. Even though we're still in the early days of the season, getting a weapon of epic or legendary rarity is slightly difficult (unless it's the sideways weapons).
Giving the crows such an upgrade makes weapons of legendary and epic rarity much more available. And these weapons are top tier weapons.
You can almost guarantee yourself a victory royale if you have such weapons in your arsenal. Crows, however, don't drop epic and legendary variants of all weapons.
Here are the ones that you can get from crows in Fortnite Season 8.
- Epic Assault Rifle
- Epic P90 (The Compact SMG)
- Epic Pump Shotgun
- Epic Lever Action Shotgun
- Legendary Lever Action Shotgun
On the other hand, killing crows may prove to be slightly difficult because these birds are quite nifty, unlike the chicken.
However, you could always use a turret to blow these crows out of mid air. Not only that, a few well timed shots with an assault rifle would be enough to kill a crow when it's sitting somewhere.
