Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 8 launched after the successful completion of Operation: Sky Fire with Fortnite 18.00.
The next update, Fortnite 18.10 is finally here. And from the looks of it, the Fortnite update today does look like a big one.
Fortnite 18.10 Update Release Date
Fortnite 18.10 is expected to drop on September 28, 2021, following a period of scheduled maintenance.
The Fortnite update sizes vary from platform to platform. And for some reason, they tend to vary between devices as well.
That being said, here are sizes of the Fortnite 18.10 update on different devices.
- PS4 - 2.7 GB
- Xbox Series X - 16 GB
- Xbox One : 9 GB
- Switch - 7.5 GB
- PC - 1.95 GB
- PS5 - 3.7 GB
Fortnite 18.10 Update Patch Notes
It is still too early to tell what fixes will arrive in 18.10, but a good place to check is the Fortnite Community Trello Board.
Toona Fish Styles
20 new Toona Fish styles will arrive with the 18.10 update. You will still have to unlock them with rainbow ink though.
There are a few new strings in the files. Out of which, two are very interesting. Dubbed as "Frankenstein's monster" and "Vintage Frank", these strings have no values yet.
New Skins and Cosmetics
The Boxy skin might be receiving an extra style in Fortnite 18.10 update.
Data miners believe that Sharktoof1's skins will be receiving a new variant after the Fortnite update today.
Some new skins were added to the files as well. We should be seeing these skins in the Fortnite item shop either after the downtime has ended, or a couple of days after the Fortnite update today.
Here's how they look in game.
These skins have their own sets of back blings and pickaxes as well. Expect to see all of them together in the Fortnite item shop soon after the Fortnite update today.
New NPC Arrivals
Several new NPCs are arriving on Apollo Island in this update:
- Grim Fable
- Big Mouth
These NPCs will also have Punch Cards.
There is another NPC that is in the works. It is supposed to have an ability known as "Big Ball". Since there's a kill feed associated with this NPC, it's highly likely that the NPC will be a hostile one.
This NPC, however, may go live at a later date.
Since there are new NPCs, it's natural that we'll be seeing new challenges associated with them too. Here are the new list of challenges that are associated with each NPC.
Not only that, Milestone challenges have also been added to the game. However, it looks like there isn't any XP associated to it.
Although this isn't a new LTM that way, there are a few changes that the Impostors LTM will be seeing. First of all, the Impostors LTM will have a separate mode with voice chat enabled.
And secondly, the LTM will automatically kick players who are AFK.
Epic Games delivered on their promise to make XP changes. For now, the XP earned from daily punch cards has been increased. Character punch cards also reward with an increased XP too.
Here's how the changes look.
We'll be seeing a couple of new weapons after the Fortnite update today. The first one is a new crossbow. There's a legendary variant of it too.
The Spicy splashes are also here. As per the description, this throwable will give health, shields and a speed boost to those standing in the splash area.
There will be a new cube at Steamy Stacks after the Fortnite update today. This cube has risen from the purple liquid of the original Keving the Cube beneath Steamy Stacks, destroying a portion of the POI.
It will make its way toward the Golden Cube.
Data miners have found the schematics of a new cube town POI in the Fortnite 18.10 update files. We're not sure when this POI will be included on the island, but it should be here sometime soon.
That being said, this POI also has many chests, so consider it to be a hot drop for starters.
Additional map changes include:
- The tiny chair grows a bit more
- The gnomes have broken out of the Sherrif's Office
- Slone and the IO Convoy have now moved to the road outside Destroyed Dish
The Cosmic chests in Fortnite Season 8 will be dropping better versions of the Halloween Crossbow and the Dual Fiend Hunter Crossbow. These are probably for the Fortnitemares 2021 event.
