How to Get Kyanite in Subnautica Below Zero

Kyanite is found in Subnautica Below Zero in very specific deep areas, usually to the extent that players will have to do brief descents back down and up to grab it and avoid taking significant damage or oxygen deprivation. Kyanite lies on the seafloor as small, pale blue crystals that stand out against the dark of the deep ocean, and can also be found in large deposits that can be broken by the Prawn Suit’s drill arm.

The specific place you want to look for Kyanite is the Crystal Caves. We’ll show you how to get to those below.

Kyanite Location

To find Kyanite’s location and the Crystal Caves, players should head to Marguerit Maida’s base, which we’ve outlined how to do here. Once there, look to the North to see a tunnel leading out and downwards from the cave you’re currently in. The Crystal Caves themselves start at about 500 meters below sea level, so make sure your vehicles is equipped to make this journey, or prepare for a fast dash up-and-down to get the Kyanite and return safely up.

As mentioned, Kyanite should be visible on the ground. However, there’s also two Shadow Leviathans hanging around - be sure to give them a wide berth! These creatures can heavily damage or even kill players in a single strike, and will target vehicles as well. If one notices you, head as fast as you can for a smaller cave it can’t fit inside and wait for it to lose interest.

Kyanite Crafting

As mentioned, Kyanite is used to craft upgrades for increased depth exploration, as well as other specialist equipment. Here’s the full list, including where to build them:
