October 3, 2023: The wait is over, High on Knife is out now!

Fans of High on Life's quirky gameplay and even quirkier talking guns have plenty to look forward to, as developers Squanch Games have announced the release of a horror-themed DLC for the game. The upcoming expansion, High on Knife, adds a dark new chapter to the original game's story and will follow the events of the story. We'll reveal right here what the High on Knife release date is!

In the original title, High on Life, players team up with some charismatic talking guns to stop the alien threat to humanity, who threaten to use humans as drugs. With this spin-off, players will still experience the strange dynamic that comes with a talking weapon, but the alien threat has become far more sinister.

High on Knife release date

As confirmed by Squanch Games on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, the High on Knife DLC will launch on October 3, 2023. This is good news for fans of High on Life, as they will not need to wait much longer to get their hands on the title.

The date was announced by Squanch Games in addition to a new trailer, which showed a much darker version of the game. The game looks to combine the humorous animated elements that the company is known for with horror elements.

High on Knife - what we know so far

High on Knife is being presented as a mini-sequel to the original game, set two years after the events of High on Life. You don't have to play through the first game to get into this one, but it certainly helps as far as context is concerned.

One obvious point of difference between High on Life and the upcoming DLC is the absence of one of the main voice actors, Justin Roiland. The co-creator of Rick and Morty and founder of Squanch Games was relieved of his position in the company and all future projects following allegations of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

The DLC will feature a whole new bounty and adventure which heavily revolves around Knifey and will reveal many details about the character's origin story. As far as additional features go, there will be two new quirky guns, Harper the ex-military pistol and B-A-L-L, a pinball gun operated by a trio of weird little blue aliens.
