Genshin Impact Hydro Hypostasis Boss Fight Guide

The Genshin Impact Hydro Hypostasis finally joins the roster of weekly bosses in version 2.1. Mihoyo revealed the formidable new water construct during the Genshin Impact 2.1 preview event, and now the new version has finally released, you can venture out to fight it for yourself on Watatsumi Island.

Since it's a Hydro boss, you'll want to take your best Electro characters, so it'll be the perfect testing ground for Sara and Baal. If you've got any levelled Cryo characters, they'll also come in pretty handy. Without further ado, here's where to find the Genshin Impact Hydro Hypostasis boss, and how to beat it in battle.

Genshin Impact Hydro Hypostasis Boss Location

The Hydro Hypostasis is located on Watatsumi Island, but it can be a little tricky to find exactly where it is. Once you've unlocked the statue of the seven on the island, you'll be able to follow its volcano-like edge around to where the boss marker is, but once you get there it won't be immediately clear how to access it. If you look on the side of the cliff that faces towards the sea, you'll find a small hole with a waterfall (pictured below) which is how you enter the boss arena.

Genshin Impact Hydro Hypostasis Boss Strategy

The Hydro Hypostasis has far more AoE attacks than its other elemental versions, and in particular, you should watch out for its attack where it tries to trap you with waves rolling in from outside of the arena. Like most other Hypostasis, your best chance to damage it is between attacks when the crystal is undefended. You can also hit the crystal when the Hypostasis forms a circle around itself and starts summoning dolphins from the ground. These attacks are easy enough to evade, so take the chance to do some damage.

When you damage it enough, the Hydro Hypostatis summons three water droplets (which are basically slimes) and you have to defeat them before they get to the crystal in the centre of the arena. This is very easy with a Cryo character, as you can one shot or freeze them in place. Once you take out those three droplets, the fight is done. Save for the Anemo, the Hydro Hypostasis might actually be the easiest version of the boss. Just keep an eye out for its constant AoE attacks and you'll be fine.

Genshin Impact Hydro Hypostasis Boss Party Comp

Any Electro damage-dealing character would be ideal for this fight, whether it's Baal, Sara, Keqing, or even just the Electro Traveler. Cryo characters such as Ayaka are also pretty ideal since they can freeze the water droplets in place, and stop them from healing the Hypostasis.

Whatever your choice, be sure not to bring Hydro characters unless its Barbara for her healing burst, as they'll be pretty useless for this boss.
