Although multiplayer often overshadows the single-player campaign of Call of Duty games, Modern Warfare 3 players preparing to load into the action are already looking forward to the next chapter of the Modern Warfare storyline.
The direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2 sees the return of an iconic villain, in addition to new Open Combat Missions that will aim to provide players with a wealth of methods to complete the objective.
As Sledgehammer Games continues to reveal more information on its latest release, players are discussing the potential plotline of the campaign and the prospect of major characters meeting their demise.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 potential campaign plot
With only a few months until the period of campaign early access begins, user ImaBigQ has taken to Reddit to pose the following question: "Now that Makarov is back, who's gonna die?"
The player argues: "Now that no main characters have died in MW2, there are bound to be some candidates that might die (in Modern Warfare 3)." As expected, plenty of players have been quick to share their theories. One said: "My bet is Price and Gaz, leading to MW4 or CoD Ghost to kill Makarov."
On the other hand, some believe killing off a main protagonist could do more harm to the storyline than good. One cynincal player even joked: "No one (will die) because Infinity Ward knows that's one less Operator they can sell."

Judging by one campaign reveal trailer, there's seemingly a possibility of something happening to Price. The enigmatic captain of Task Force 141 is seen collapsing to the floor, perhaps suggesting some kind of incident may not play out in the favour of the talismanic figure of the Modern Warfare series.
Considering there are a few months until Modern Warfare 3 launches, it won't be long before Call of Duty fans find out whether Task Force 141 can overcome the threat of Makarov and the Konni Group.
