How to Beat Baal in Diablo 2 Resurrected

The Diablo 2 Baal fight was once a DLC exclusive fight, but Diablo 2 Resurrected brings it back and integrates it into your main journey.

The Baal fight only opens in act five, which unlocks after you defeat Diablo himself (and Andariel, Duriel, and Mephisto, of course). Despite Baal being the ultimate boss in Diablo 2, he's not as challenging as Diablo. You should be able to easily handle this one with the right strategy.

How to Beat Baal in Diablo 2 Resurrected - Baal Location

Baal's home is Mount Arreat, specifically the Throneroom of Destruction. You'll face hordes of his minions before ever getting close to the final Evil. Things get even trickier once you reach the Throneroom.

There, Baal throws even more enemy waves at you, only this time, a champion from earlier acts leads the charge. You'll run up against:

  • Colenzo the Annihilator
  • Achmel the Cursed
  • Bartuc the Bloody
  • Ventar the Unholy,
  • Lister the Tormentor

You must defeat every champion before you even get a chance at Baal.

How to Beat Baal in Diablo 2 Resurrected - Baal Boss Tips

After Diablo and what you just experienced, Baal's attacks should be fairly easy to deal with. He uses a strong frost attack and fire attack, so make sure you have cold and fire resistant equipment. The more concerning attack is Mana Rift, since it depletes your mana by half. Head into the fight with as many mana-restoring potions as possible, alongside the usual health potions.

Another difficult move to counter is Vile Effigy, where Baal duplicates himself. You can tell which Baal the duplicate is thanks to the positioning of his name. The "d" in "demon" is directly below the "B" in "Baal" for the duplicate.

Baal has no significant weaknesses, but he's also not particularly resistant to physical attacks. As with previous boss fights, make sure to not to linger too long during your attacks. A careful pattern of offense, retreat, and restoration will help see you through this long fight.
