Valheim: How To Save Game Progress

Saving in survival games is absolutely vital and Valheim is no different. It may not be entirely clear at first how to do so. You're probably sitting there wondering whether to quit, but maybe that will erase all your hard work? In this Valheim saving guide we'll show you how to save your progress.

How To Save Game Progress in Valheim

Saving in Valheim is as easy as pie. Simply exit the game as you normally would:

1. Press the “Esc” key.
2. Select “Quit.”
3. Select “Yes.”

Doing this will automatically save your location and progress. Unlike many other titles where you have to reach a checkpoint or sleep in a bed, Valheim doesn't require this. Great news for those of us who constantly forget to save. The only downside to this system is that players can't return to a previous save if they wish to. Keep in mind Valheim is in early access so this could change in the future.

Manual Save With Console Commands

You can also save Valheim progress using console commands. To do so, press F5, type 'save' and press enter. This will save your game, allowing you to keep playing right away.
