Unfortunately, Rockstar's said nothing about a remastered edition of Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox Series X|S or PS5. There's also been no suggestion that they'll offer improvements via backwards compatibility, which we've seen boost framerates for games like Horizon Zero Dawn or The Last of Us Part II.

With Grand Theft Auto V: Enhanced and Expanded edition's coming out later this year, Rockstar could simply be focusing their efforts on that instead before enhancing Red Dead Redemption 2, though that remains speculative.

Update: January 11th, 2022

According to insider AccountNGT, Rockstar Games is more likely to announce a PS5 patch for Red Dead Redemption 2. They also claim its likely they'll announce a remaster for the original Red Dead Redemption too. However, AccountNGT doesn't believe a 2022 release is likely, even if an announcement is.

Rockstar Games aren't strangers to remasters, having previously tacked the recent Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, though that saw mixed reception. We'll have to wait for an official confirmation in the meantime.
