The Last Of Us Part II Gets A New Performance Patch, Targeting 60fps On PS5

Well, this is quite the surprise. Following on from God of War and Days Gone's example, Naughty Dog's acclaimed The Last Of Us Part II has just received a new performance patch for PS5 owners.

Released last year on PS4, The Last of Us Part II originally only ran at 30fps but thanks to Patch 1.08, PS5 players can now experience the game at 60fps, making this a welcome boost without Naughty Dog releasing a native PS5 edition.

To activate this, you'll now find a toggle in the display options, letting you choose between a framerate target of 30 FPS or 60 FPS. Elaborating on what this brings, Naughty Dog's Arne Meyer confirmed:

This allows you to choose your preferred framerate to complement the rest of the enhancements that are part of the PS5 backward compatibility with PS4 games, such as an enhanced resolution, faster load times, and more.

Curiously, that's not all Naughty Dog confirms on PlayStation Blog. Talking further about the PS5, Meyer advises the team's been "digging into the PS5 hardware", calling this patch "the first step of working on the PS5". Though he doesn't offer any hints to what this involves , we'll be keeping an eye on further developments.
