Pokémon GO Halloween 2021 event: start date, Special Research, raid bosses, and more

It’s getting to that time of year again, when the spookiest of Pokémon come out of hiding to scare unsuspecting trainers and wreak havoc in-game. Pokémon GO’s Halloween events are an annual occurrence, and while October 31 is still a little while away, it’s always worth knowing what’s in store.

Whether you’re excited for event-exclusive Pokémon GO field research tasks, or just want to prepare some Pokémon GO Rocket Grunt counters for the evil team’s ghoulish gangs, this Halloween will have something for everyone.

Based on previous experience, we’re expecting plenty of Ghost- and Dark-types. Spooky.

When is the Pokémon GO Halloween event start date?

The Pokémon GO Halloween event 2021 will start around October 23. It should go on for about two weeks, likely finishing on November 6.

What is the Pokémon GO Halloween Special Research?

As with most Pokémon GO events, the Halloween event will likely include some Special Research. We don’t know exactly what this will entail, but we’ll keep this guide up to date as soon as we know more.

What are the Pokémon GO Halloween Raid Bosses?

Expect to see a lot of Ghost- and Dark- type Pokémon in raids during this event. We might see the return of costumed Gengar, or Darkrai as a legendary Pokémon GO raid boss.

As for counters, Ghost-types are weak to Dark-type Pokémon, so the likes of Tyranitar will be perfect. Dark-type Pokémon are weak to Bug-, Fighting-, and Fairy-types, so we’d recommend brushing off a few Machamp, Terrakion, and Togekiss to see you through.

What are the Pokémon GO Halloween spawns?

Much like the raid bosses for this event, we’re expecting Ghost- and Dark-type Pokémon to appear more frequently in the wild. They will also be attracted to Incense and probably Lures, although the special Lures will still attract their respective types of Pokémon.

That’s everything we know about Pokémon GO’s Halloween 2021 event. Prepare your fighters and be ready to get spooked.
