The long-absent Fortnite iOS port will be coming back to iPhones alongside a brand-new Epic Games Store for the Apple platform. Now with an Apple Developer Account, Epic Games is going hard on cornering the iPhone crowd.

Following the long court battle between Epic Games and Apple, the European Union has determined that iPhones should allow alternate storefronts other than the iOS App Store. This means that Fortnite will be able to return to iOS without paying a percentage of microtransactions to Apple.

The Epic Games Store iOS marketplace will allow Epic to continue bringing Fortnite to the platform alongside new mobile games outside of the App Store. Launching in 2024, the new App Store will still have to deal with some fees to Apple.

With the new rules, Apple will still receive so-called “Junk Fees” that charge developers for the number of installs from iOS users. While it will still stop Epic from sharing its microtransaction payments with Apple, they will still have to give the platform money for the chance to sell items to their user base.

Currently, the Epic Games Store has 75 million users across PC and Android. However, via our sister site Stealth Optional, the platform has failed to be profitable after years of offering free games every week.

Fortnite is still as popular as ever, if not more. With Disney paying $1.5 billion to implement its IP into the so-called metaverse, Fortnite is still bringing in billions every year. Implementing new game modes such as the extremely popular LEGO Fortnite and the rhythm action Fortnite Festival, Epic is turning the battle royale game into a Roblox-like collection of experiences.

Currently, Fortnite is engaged in its brilliant Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover. You can get TMNT skins, explore the Cowabunga event and more. While the long-rumoured Doctor Who event has been shut down by the BBC, a new One Piece Fortnite event could happen sometime soon.

Fortnite is now currently available on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and mobile.
