When does Destiny 2 Season 18 release?

Destiny 2 Season 18 released on August 23rd, which is also the same day as the Destiny 2 Showcase, which included a Lightfall announcement date, trailer and more.

What is coming in Destiny 2 Season 18?

As with all Destiny 2 seasons, Bungie is going to be throwing a lot of content at us to do. There's obviously a bunch of sandbox changes that are going to be taking place, most of which were detailed in this week's TWAB. We got the introduction of Arc 3.0, which revamped the Arc subclass to bring them inline with the rest of the subclasses in the game.

The name of the season is Season of Plunder. Eremis is back, as is our good friends Spider and the Drifter! We're off on an adventure in space, but not as saviors. This time, we're Pirates. Space Pirates. We're in search of various Darkness and Pyramid related artifacts that are being targeted by Eremis and other outlaw factions. There are a new swath of guns and armor available for the season as well.

There are three activities within this season that feed into each other for the seasonal activity. The first is a good ol' space-pirate ship boarding. Then you'll find a treasure map, which takes you to a horde mode of sorts. You have a drill that's digging up treasure, and you have to defend it. You'll also have to dunk treasure engrams into your little cart and escort it to the evac. The last part is the pirate hideout. You'll run down a short corridor, killing some enemies, and will quickly come up to the pirate kingpin. Kill them to claim some loot, and for story purposes, an artifact.

The seasonal exotic on the season pass is called Delicate Tomb. It's an energy fusion rifle and it's quite unique. Collecting Ionic Traces will overcharge the gun, causing it's next shot to Jolt it's target. Additionally, if you hip fire it, it does a wide shot, but aiming down sights makes it shoot like a traditional fusion. Also, killing enemies has a chance to generate Ionic Traces.

The last thing that we are getting with this season is the return of Destiny 1 raid, King's Fall. We don't have much in terms of details about weapons for the raid or what mechanics changes are coming yet. The raid and the world first race launch on August 26, 2022.

And that's what we have for you! The season is live so hop on in, test out Arc 3.0 and have fun being a space pirate!
