December 4th, 2023: We've done some digging to find out if Spidey is swinging towards the Switch in 2024.

The long-awaited sequel to 2018's Spider-Man has arrived, and it's taking the gaming world by storm. Spider-Man 2 is the latest in a long line of impressive titles by Insomniac Games, but is Spider-Man 2 coming to the Nintendo Switch?

Insomniac's first Spider-Man game was a technical marvel, and its sequel is clearly aiming to push systems even further. The game's fast travel has been impressing players on social media with a lightning fast 'go anywhere' approach, and many are wondering if the Switch could handle a game like this.

Many are sceptical that the Switch could even handle a game like Spider-Man 2.

Is Spider-Man 2 coming to the Nintendo Switch?

Like many Sony titles before it, there are no plans to bring Spider-Man 2 to the Nintendo Switch. The game's developers, Insomniac Games, primarily develop games for PlayStation consoles. This relationship has existed for years, with their previous title Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart being a heavily marketed launch title for the PlayStation 5.

Some videos have surfaced on YouTube that appear to show Spider-Man 2 playable on the Switch OLED, but it's worth noting that most of these are either faked or captured via remote play with a modified console. Hacking into the Switch to make this an option will void its warranty, however, so users should consider themselves warned.

The first Spider-Man game's remaster and Miles Morales spin-off eventually came to PC, as did many former PlayStation exclusives, so there's a chance that we'll see Peter and Miles' exciting adventure come to Steam where it'll be playable on the Steam Deck handheld. Still, Sony and Nintendo are two titans of the gaming industry and seem to prefer keeping their main titles on their own consoles.

While it's extremely unlikely that the superheroes will swing over to the Switch, there are plenty of other Nintendo games to keep fans occupied. Our Mario Wonder review can give you an idea of what to expect in that game, while Princess Peach: Showtime is only a few short months away.
