The red mist is the product of a vampire that is hidden in the middle, spewing bloody gas around itself. As soon as you enter the fog you are slowed down and your health starts to drain. To get rid of the mist, you must use a UV light.
How to use UV lights to clear the red mist in Redfall
To get rid of the mist, you must petrify the vampire in the middle using a portable UV light and then destroy it.
First, try to find the vampire from safety outside of the cloud. Getting on an elevated platform nearby, like a car, will help locate the vampire. When you see the vampire, aim your UV ray at it until it is completely petrified. Once you’re done, the red mist will temporarily disappear, and you will have time to run up to the vampire and smash it into pieces with your melee attack. And there you go, the annoying red mist is gone!

Sometimes there might be multiple vampires close to each other forming a large sea of red gas. If the fog doesn’t disappear after you’ve killed the vampire, that means there are more of them around. Be sure to get them all!
If you don’t have your own portable UV light, you might want to try and look around to see if there are any UV lights set up nearby. You can aim them at the vampire, and they will petrify it just like the portable one.
The red mist might also come from bombs thrown by cultists. Unfortunately, there is no way to quickly get rid of these other than to wait for them to disappear on their own.
