Hogwarts Legacy Arresto Momentum quest pre-requisites

Arresto Momentum is designed to reduce injuries during Quidditch, so it makes sense that the Assignment to unlock the spell requires a bit of flying. While there is no Quidditch in the game, you still get to fly around and master your broom control. Madam Kogawa, the flying instructor, helps you master various flying spells. She is the one who gives you the Assignment to unlock Arresto Momentum.

To unlock the Assignment for Arresto Momentum, you need to complete Madam Kogawa’s Assignment 1, which unlocks Glacius. Once you have access to Glacius, you will get access to the second Assignment. Similar to the Glacius questline, this Assignment involves balloons as well.

How to unlock Arresto Momentum in Hogwarts Legacy

After talking to Madam Kogawa and initiating Assignment two, you will be tasked with heading to The Belltower Wing and the Flying Class Lawn. There are five balloons in each location, and you will need to manouevre your way around them.

If you do not have a broom yet, keep progressing the main story until you run into Jackdaw’s Rest. This will lead up to your first Flying Class near the main lawn. After you complete the quest, Spintwitches Sporting Needs will open up, located across from Ollivanders’ wand shop. Head to Spintwitches to get your first broom in Hogwarts Legacy.

To get on your broom, all you need to do is select it from the inventory menu. Head to either Belltower Wing or the Flying Class Lawn, and start making your way around the balloons. Whenever you successfully clear a balloon, it will explode into confetti. Once you pop all ten balloons, you can head back to Madam Kogawa.

Once you are in Madam Kogawa’s room, tell her that you have completed the Assignment. She will then teach your Arresto Momentum. You have to glide your mouse or controller across the shown shape, and you will learn the spell. She will also allow you to use the spell on the books flying around in the room if you want to check out how the spell works.

The spell completely halts all momentum and speed, and can save your life if objects come crashing down on you. The effect of the spell varies depending on the size and weight of the object, so don’t expect the same results every time.
