What are the best upgrades in the Dead Space remake?

There are two main areas you'll want to dedicate your upgrade nodes to in the Dead Space remake: your RIG suit, and your weapon of choice.

The former is a no-brainer: you can upgrade your suit's max HP, Stasis capacity, and hardiness in the vacuum of space. Some enemies in the Dead Space remake can down you in just a few hits, so it's always worth spending those early nodes on all the HP upgrades you can get your hands on.

Next, you'll want to buff the weaponry you'll use to take down necromorphs. Not only will this make you more efficient at killing these beasts, but ultimately save you plenty of ammo if each bullet packs more of a punch. Each weapon has several upgrade options, ranging from sheer damage to reload speed or magazine capacity. Reload speed and damage are your best options, compensating for the tight hallways that make it hard to switch out mags without taking a hit.

How do I upgrade items and skills in the Dead Space remake?

Fortunately, upgrading your items and suits in the Dead Space remake is very easy. As with many other progression-focused titles, all you need to do is find a suitable workbench across the USG Ishimura. These start off appearing quite frequently in the early chapters, but soon become a lot tougher to track down.

Once you're at a workbench, you'll be given the option of what to upgrade. You can choose from your suit or the various weapons you collect throughout the game. On top of that, finding blueprints hidden on the ship opens up even more progression branches for the item in question.

From there, it's a simple matter of selecting what to upgrade, and spending your nodes on doing so. Note that it works like most other skill trees, where you can only unlock upgrades adjacent to the ones you've bought so far. Therefore, it can take a very long time to max out a weapon or RIG.
