You might be thinking of how the investigation system works in Assassin's Creed Mirage. This feature is heavily tied to campaign progression, which is more linear compared to the recent titles in the series.

Our guide discusses what you can expect from this mechanic, as well as the types of tasks that you'll undertake. Likewise, please be reminded that this article contains minor spoilers.

How does the investigation system work in Assassin's Creed Mirage?

The Assassin's Creed Mirage investigation system can be considered as the process by which you progress the campaign. Here's a quick summary:

  • Upon reaching Baghdad, you're told to visit Assassins Bureaus, first in the Harbiyah district, then those in Abbasiyah, Karkh, and Sharqiyah.
  • Each bureau/district is part of arc, a set of objectives that, eventually, lead to a main assassination target, a high-ranking member of the Order of the Ancients.
  • The goal is to complete all required tasks via the Investigation Board, so you can finally plan on how you'll eliminate your target in that district.

Types of Assassin's Creed Mirage investigation tasks

Below, we've listed the types of objectives that you can expect when you conduct Investigations in Assassin's Creed Mirage. Take note that most arcs/chapters will also have similar tasks for you as you go along:

  • Explore - You're often required to meet up with an NPC, whom you'll have to follow around as they provide exposition regarding the happenings in a district.
  • Eavesdrop - If you see a small ear icon, that means you can eavesdrop on NPCs. Find a bench to sit on, then pan the camera to the NPCs so you can listen in on the conversation.
  • Examine - One of the most basic tasks involves checking out different objects in a room or building. Examples include reading documents, taking a peek inside boxes, or just rummaging through items. Make sure you activate Eagle Vision (i.e. the ping action), since it gives the important objects an orange highlight.
  • Eliminate - In some cases, you'll need to take out hostiles, such as nearby guards. There are also a few situations when you're supposed to assassinate a low-ranking member of the Order.

In any case, this is what you can expect from the Assassin's Creed Mirage Investigation System. As mentioned earlier, many of these tasks are just rehashes of what you've done in earlier arcs, which can make the whole process a bit repetitive.
