Throughout the opening season of Warzone 2, several players believed that the game was already dying before it had a chance to make its mark on the hugely popular battle royale genre. Thanks to Infinity Ward and Raven Software acknowledging player feedback, the tide is beginning to turn.

The Season Two update for Call of Duty’s battle royale introduced a wealth of changes including the return of the 1v1 gulag, major looting changes, and most notably, the introduction of the Ashika Island Resurgence map.

Thanks to the new battleground and faster pace of play, fans believe the return of Resurgence has saved the game and makes it much more enjoyable to play.

Warzone 2 players are loving Resurgence

As players continue exploring everything Ashika Island has to offer, Reddit user MasterChiefwz believes the arrival of the map and the return of Resurgence has “saved the game.”

“I’m finally having fun again in Warzone,” reports the player. “The movement changes are so nice.” They’re not the only ones that believe Resurgence is responsible for saving Warzone 2. “Also enjoying it. Feeling like I have a chance to actually win a gunfight,” comments another fan that’s a big fan of the recent buffs and nerfs spicing up the meta.

Warzone has a strong history of producing popular Resurgence maps that act as a viable alternative to the main dose of battle royale action. One fan even suggests developers should add a map rotation that includes Ashika Island, Rebirth Island, and Fortune’s Keep to reduce the chances of the game growing stale. “Having a map rotation of Ashika, FK, and Rebirth would be so nice. I hope the player population explodes and Activision tells the devs to give us what we want.”

With Season Two in full swing, it’ll be interesting to see whether Warzone 2 is experiencing a honeymoon period before players start sharing their frustrations once again. For the time being, Resurgence has certainly stopped Warzone 2 from losing its first visit to the gulag.
