This summer’s been a pretty great one for fighting game fans, with Street Fighter 6 having released to an overwhelmingly positive reception back in June, and the arrival of Mortal Kombat 1 now being imminent.

No matter whether you’re planning to jump into MK1 on September 14 or are waiting until September 19, odds are you’ve been checking out all of the character previews and impressions that’ve been dropping in the run up to its release, as well as fantasising about beating up Homelander.

Yesterday, the game’s launch trailer dropped and finally gave fans the look at Reiko they’d been asking for. Now, one has earned the admiration of the MK community by putting together their own custom edit that imbues the trailer with some Mortal Kombat 11 vibes.

Which version of Mortal Kombat 1’s launch trailer do you prefer?

The fan in question, who goes by adil11223344 on Reddit and OyabunHayato on YouTube, has shared their creation on both platforms, but has seen it particularly take off on the Mortal Kombat subreddit.

“I was a bit disappointed with Mortal Kombat 1's launch trailer,” they explained in the description of the video. “So, I thought I'd attempt to recreate Mortal Kombat 1's launch trailer in the spirit of Mortal Kombat 11's launch trailer, which in my opinion is the best trailer they've ever made.”

In line with this, as you can see by comparing the two below, adil11223344’s cut of the trailer notably swaps the MK1 trailer’s fairly generic background music for the version of the iconic ‘Techno Syndrome’ used in the MK11 trailer, as well as cutting down the runtime to a snappy one minute and 50 seconds.

As alluded to, their fellow fatality fanatics on Reddit seem to dig the changes, with user 90selitistgamer having admitted: “Okay, this [trailer] actually got me even more hyped than the official one.” User Darth__Revan89 went even further in their praise, declaring: “This is now the new launch trailer going forward. Bravo.”
