Mortal Kombat 1 players plan on making Homelander their community punching bag once he arrives

This summer’s been a pretty great one for fighting game fans, with Street Fighter 6 having released to an overwhelmingly positive reception back in June, and the arrival of Mortal Kombat 1 now being imminent.

No matter whether you’re planning to jump into it on September 14, when those who’ve invested in the Premium Edition will get the green light, or are waiting until September 19, odds are you’ve been checking out all of the trailers and impressions that’ve been dropping in the run up to release.

While some fans have recently been busy praying for a pre-release look at Reiko, which they’ve now gotten via the game’s launch trailer, others are preparing by deciding which roster members they’re going to use as training dummies. Unfortunately, it looks like one DLC character is in for a very bad time.

This drubbing-based discourse has been raging in a thread on the Mortal Kombat subreddit, which user Large-Wheel-4181 kicked off by asking their fellow fatality fanatics: “Upon release, who’s going to be your punching bag?”

The responses feature a decent amount of variety, with some fans clearly having put a lot of thought into whose intestines they’d like to become intimately familiar with and others being a bit less bothered. That said, there are a couple of names that seem like they’ll be in for a bad time.

Chief among these is Homelander, who won’t be available on release by virtue of being pencilled in as a Kombat Pack addition. Truth be told, it looks like that’s a good thing, as it’ll give the superhero from The Boys a chance to prepare for what’s coming his way.

“Probably Scorpion, until Homelander comes out and then I'm turning that bastard into a smoothie,” declared user Dictionary_Goat, while a number of others expressed similar sentiments. This led Large-Wheel-4181 to admit that they’d chosen to limit their question to the base roster as they’re “certain once Homelander joins he’ll be a definitive winner of [the Mortal Kombat] punching bag [prize].”

Meanwhile, some other interesting picks came from user Double_Bluejay_1255, who said: “Geras, since he can't die,” and nharvey5576, who mused: “All of them. I treat them all as equals.”
