Following the arrival of Street Fighter 6 earlier this year, many fighting game fans have been busy trying to master its modern controls, playing some classic titles in its arcade, or simply trying to stick to the rage-preventing ground rules they set themselves ahead of its release.

Meanwhile, those who prefer to do their bottom-kicking in slightly more brutal fashion have been getting ready to delve into Mortal Kombat 1 when it lands on September 19.

While some fans came out of this year’s Summer Game Fest with mixed views on what they’d seen of MK1, they’ve just received a fresh trailer to dig into, which interestingly features Megan Fox.

How do you feel about Megan Fox portraying Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1?

The trailer in question, which you can watch in full below, offers a look at what Nitara looks and sounds like in game, as well as giving players a taste of some of the moves that the vampire, who’s returning after a lengthy hiatus, can dish out to foes.

Naturally, there’s also a fatality, which involves a bit of rather devastating intestine-aided dropkicking.

“She is a type of vampire creature,” Fox says of Nitara in the video, continuing: “She’s evil but she’s also good. She’s trying to save her people. I really like her. She’s a vampire, which obviously resonates for whatever reason.”

While that last line could well be a cheeky reference to Fox and Machine Gun Kelly having talked about drinking each other’s blood last year, Mortal Kombat fans on Reddit think they’ve also spotted an allusion to Fox’s acting career in the trailer.

As pointed out by user YaboiDan0545935, at around the one minute thirty mark of the trailer Nitara is seemingly asked by Kung Lao: “What did you do with Jen’s body?”

In addition to being a reference to Fox’s starring role in the film Jennifer's Body, Reddit user NathanDrakeWolf has pointed out that it could well be alluding to Jen Reyland, Kung Lao's girlfriend in the TV series Mortal Kombat: Conquest.
