The Call of Duty franchise has a vast arsenal of weaponry spanning several historical eras. Ranging from the M4 assault rifle in Modern Warfare 2 to the MP40 submachine gun from the likes of Vanguard and World at War, some always manage to slot into the latest release.
With the launch of Season 4 Reloaded on the horizon, fans continue to debate what makes Infinity Ward’s latest release so frustrating to play while other community members keep encountering a bug that’s causing Operators to levitate.
The latest topic of debate sees players sharing which iconic weapons from previous Call of Duty games they want to see in the final seasons of multiplayer.
Which classic weapons should return in Modern Warfare 2?
In a recent Reddit post from user yo—-, they ask: “What weapon would you like to see added in MW2?” followed by a picture of the FR 5.56 assault rifle from 2019’s Modern Warfare.
As expected, several Call of Duty fans got involved and revealed the weapons they think the developer should add. One player mentions: “G36C. A classic gun that’s been missing for years now.” Another fan adds: “Kar98k.”
The G36C first arrived in Call of Duty 4, while the Kar98k’s appearance dates all the way back to the very first Call of Duty title. Judging by the comments, several fans would be extremely happy if these two weapons ever returned before the heavily-rumoured launch of Modern Warfare 3.

Other notable mentions include the semi-automatic FAL assault rifle and the Grau 5.56, which once dominated the Warzone meta during the Verdansk era.
It’s unclear if Infinity Ward plans on adding classic weaponry this close to the end of the Modern Warfare 2 cycle, but there’s always a chance as the developer sometimes listens to community feedback. We’d love to see the FAMAS return in some capacity!
