GTA 5 mod lets you experience a Mad Max-style post-apocalyptic Los Santos

Mad Max in GTA 5.

While some GTA players are already looking forward to GTA 6, others are still trying to enjoy everything that Los Santos has to offer by spending all of their hard-earned cash, grinding out a few more heists or putting all of their in-game knowledge to good use.

After all, if you don’t enjoy trying to predict what the next game’s map will look like, lack any hot takes regarding what or who it should include, and have given up on planning out your first playthrough, why not just try to appreciate the final stretch of GTA Online, even if you aren’t exactly excited about its current in-game events?

However, if instead, you want to dive into a GTA experience that’s got more in common with Mad Max or Fallout, a new mod might be worth a look.

Have you ever wanted to re-enact The Day After Tomorrow in GTA?

The mod in question is called ‘The End of Los Santos (Menyoo)’ and is the work of modder Gamer9999. A lot of their previous modding work has also been focused on making changes to GTA 5’s map, for example, by adding expansive car meets and floating apartments to it.

This time, they’ve decided to cover the entirety of San Andreas in either sand or snow, burying everything from towering skyscrapers, to Vinewood mansions and even discount clothing stores beneath this new surface.

Unlike the poor NPC citizens of the state, who’ve seemingly also been entombed below the avalanche of sediment, leaving you as the sole survivor roaming the wasteland.

This might seem at first to be a rather depressing predicament, after all, how are you supposed to pull off a heist when both your target and crew are inaccessible without a month of industrial digging?

However, if you spawn in one of the apocalyptic Arena War vehicles like the Sasquatch or Bruiser, you could roleplay as Mad Max, patrolling a barren desert and facing off against enemies driving similarly terrifying cars, assuming you spawn those in too.

On the other hand, you could dress up as a pirate and pretend you’re Jack Sparrow marooned in Davy Jones’ locker, though you might have trouble reconciling why The Black Pearl has been switched out for the summit of the Maze Bank building.

If you fancy any of those options, you’ll first need to grab GTA 5’s script hook, MAFINS’ ‘Menyoo PC’ and OpenIV.

Regardless of whether your GTA character is now contemplating life in a barren wasteland, make sure to follow us for more GTA 6 and GTA Online updates as new vehicles and more arrive.
