Shroud Says Fortnite Is Better Than Apex Legends For ‘Only One Reason’

As time has progressed, Apex Legends has become a direct competitor of Fortnite in the battle royale genre. Many Call of Duty: Warzone streamers have left the game due to the lack of anti-cheat software, and even PUBG has phased out. Fortnite still has more players, revenue, and even a more important place in Esports than Apex Legends.

Shroud, a popular streamer and massive advocate for Apex Legends, has a theory that makes sense. Unlike other games in the same genre, Fortnite offers one thing that others do not. Honestly, he's right; Fortnite still trumps all other games because it's unique in so many ways.

Why Shroud says Fortnite is better than Apex Legends

Shroud has been a massive proponent of Apex Legends since 2019, and it has paid off. This battle royale game has done everything in its power to prove that it belongs in the battle royale genre. Apex Legends recently introduced balance changes and map updates this season and the arrival of the new character, Seer. In case you didn't know, that's the visual definition of pulling out all the stops.

Apex Legends has stood the test of time and continues to grow. Due to Call of Duty: Warzone's massive cheating issue, Apex Legends has been gaining even more streamers. Despite the new competition such as Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt, they may not hold our interest for long.

Apex Legends is still a distant second to Fortnite, whom even Shroud acknowledges to be the king. Despite Fortnite's recent decline, Chapter 2 Season 7 saw the game return with a vengeance. There was nothing left for fans to dislike about the game, and it was enjoyable to play again.

In his opinion, Fortnite stands out over Apex Legends and Warzone as the "number one" battle royale. In the words of Shroud (Found by Dexerto):

"To me, Fortnite's number one. It's unique. And Apex Legends is number two. That's if we're talking competitive gameplay--With Fortnite, you can build."

It gets complicated from there, so I will explain it in layman's terms. It is common for players to get flanked by newly arrived players in the middle of a firefight. The building system in Fortnite provides a makeshift cover system and keeps things even.

Battle royales often have that issue, and you can get flanked or caught unaware. Having the ability to build makes Fortnite feel more even, balanced, and fair. I will continue to quote Shroud:

"It's why Fortnite is a very, very good competitive battle royale, when you win fights it really is just you and your opponents. Of course [in Apex Legends] you're going to be ratting it up. You're always going to 'rat' in those kinds of battle royales… [Fortnite is] amazing for that, because you, the player, get out of those sticky situations. I think that's really cool."
