The Forspoken ESRB rating has been revealed and suggests that the game will have microtransactions of some kind. It's also been given an 'M for Mature' rating, citing Strong Language and Violence.

You can read the full ESRB rating summary below:

"This is an action role-playing game in which player assume the role of a woman (Frey) who finds herself teleported to a fantasy world. As players try to find their way home, they can explore and traverse terrain, interact with characters, and battle fantastical creatures. Players use a magical vambrace and other attacks (e.g., leach, disperse, tendril) to defeat zombie-like creatures and monsters in frenetic combat. Battles are accompanied by colorful effects, screen-shaking, and cries of pain. Cutscenes depict additional acts of violence: a character attempting to jump off a building; monsters killing civilians; a character held at gunpoint. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” are heard in the game."

Some rumours overnight suggest that Square Enix might not feature any big Final Fantasy series news at their E3 2021 press conference. This is according to ResetERA forums member Sasliquid (Via wccftech.com). Supposedly, the information was also subsequently verified by the ResetERA forums administrations team.

Whilst this isn't great for anyone hoping to see Final Fantasy 16 or Final Fantasy Origin, it could mean more time in the presentation for the likes of titles like Marvel Avengers, Outriders and Forspoken.

Square Enix didn't say Forspoken will feature during its E3 2021 showcase - but it didn't say it won't feature either.

Forspoken is a fantasy RPG where a woman is transported from our world to one of magic and danger. Square Enix's Luminous Productions studio, known for its work on Final Fantasy 15, is in charge of Forspoken.

The PlayStation blog describes the game like this:

Forspoken is an action RPG where you will take on the role of Frey Holland, an ordinary young woman who must harness her magical abilities to survive in a fantastical and dangerous land called Athia. As Frey, you will embark on a thrilling, other-worldly adventure and face treacherous trials to unravel the mystery behind the unknown land of Athia and awaken something much more from within.

Gary Whitta, screenwriter for Star Wars: Rogue One, is leading the Forspoken writing team and announced his position on Twitter.
