In Far Cry 6, health indicators will appear above the heads of enemies on your HUD. These are quite a new addition from Ubisoft, but can impact your levels of immersion when fighting to free Yara. By default, every enemy you can attack — including animals and vehicles — will have a health indicator bar above their heads. In this guide, we explain what the health indicators are and how to turn them on or off.

As explained briefly in our introduction, health indicators are visual health bars that appear on your HUD above the heads of your enemies as you lock on to them. They're the type of health indicators you'll be familiar with if you played the likes of the prior Far Cry series instalment, New Dawn. These bars will be applied to enemy vehicles, animals, and machinery too.

For some players, the health bars are really useful and are a great indicator of whether to move on or keep firing, but for many other players, the health indicators are deemed to be a bit of a nuisance. Without further ado, we'll explain how you can turn them off.

Luckily enough, for those of you who don't like these health bars, Far Cry 6 does allow you to hide health indicators from gameplay. Obviously, this does not alter how many bullets or machete slashes it'll take to kill an enemy soldier, but it does remove the unrealistic health bar element from your vision.

To do this, you must enter your main menu and select 'Settings'. From here, select 'HUD' and then move over to 'Elements'. The fourth option down — as displayed above — provides you with the choice to toggle health indicators on or off. Keep in mind that if you turn this off, you also won't be able to see your own med-kit counter either.

If you're going to fight against Anton Castillo's oppressive regime with your health indicators off, it only makes sense that you ensure you're armed with the best weapons too. Additionally, if you fancy finding yourself a fun weapon that packs a punch, we recommend making the effort to unlock the Macarena Gun or seek out a decent Launcher.
