Dead By Daylight Tome VIII: Release Date, Leaks & Everything We Know So Far

UPDATE - Dead By Daylight Tome 8 Deliverance is now live.

[Original Story] - Dead by Daylight Chapter 20 is in full flow and the addition of the 5th Anniversary event has given fans even more things to do. Looking further afield, Dead By Daylight Chapter 21 is still a few months away, but it won't be long until the game's next Tome event is added to The Archives.

For those who don't know, Tome events provide players with all-new stories in the world of Dead by Daylight, including a never-before-seen glimpse into the past certain survivors and killers.

That's just the lore side of things. There are also all-new challenges to complete, offering players the chance to earn more bloodpoints, charms, and rift fragments.

At the time of writing, there are 7 Tomes available in The Archives, with the most recent being Tome VII: FORSAKEN, which focussed primarily on the past of Left 4 Dead’s William “Bill” Overbeck and Adiris, The Plague killer.

So what's coming next in Tome VIII? Tome 8 Latest News

28 July, 2021 -

Tome 8 Deliverance is now available and will last from July 28 until October 6.

In the Deliverance Rift, players can earn over 60 items including 12 new outfits, and much more.

There's also new lore to reveal, exciting new challenges to undertake and a new type of Glyph Challenge as well.

26 July, 2021 [10pm BST] -

Heads up, Dead by Daylight has announced that the games next update, version 5.1.0, will not be released on Nintendo Switch. Behaviour Interactive explained that this was done "to further resolve some issues related to performance."

This delay will not affect tomorrow's planned release on other platforms, but it means that players on Nintendo Switch will not be able to enjoy Tome 8.

July 26, 2021 [10am BST] -

A reminder that Dead By Daylight's 20.5 Mid-Chapter update is expected to arrive tomorrow, on July 27.

It's quite possible we'll see Tome 8: Deliverance released shortly after the new patch for the game arrives. So be sure to keep those peepers peeled for news on Tuesday.

July 23, 2021 -

We finally have confirmation of the game's next Tome event, although no release date just yet. Still, it's coming soon and that's something!

Lost in memory, the past resurfaces to bleed into the present. A familiar finger points the way. Tome VIII: DELIVERANCE… coming soon.

July 13, 2021 -

The developers have announced that they have fixes coming for "the most significant performance issues", which are coming to the game on 27 July. The tweet then referenced some rewards available to players "before the mid-chapter releases".

This either suggests the Dead By Daylight 20.5 Mid-Chapter Update is coming before the imminent arrival of the mid-chapter update, or if it's coming on 27 July specifically. More details will potentially arrive next week.

Tome 8 Release Date - When Is It Coming?

As we've mentioned, there's currently 7 Tomes available in the Dead By Daylight Archives and historically these have been released at roughly the same intervals.

A quick check on google will tell us that since the start of 2020, every Tome has been released 84-112 days apart from one another. Or to be less fancy, every 12-16 weeks.

Given that Tome VII: FORSAKEN was released on 5 May 2021, we can assume that Tome VIII will release somewhere between 28 July 2021 and 25 August 2021.

Personally, we think it'll arrive in July, shortly after the release of the Dead By Daylight 20.5 Mid-Chapter update.

Tome 8 Leaks - What Do We Know So Far?

Dead By Daylight data miner Th3Nigh7mare has revealed some early details on which characters will be the main focus of the game's next Tome.

According to Th3Nigh7mare, the main characters with Lore for Tome VIII are: The Clown, Jake and Observer.

It's worth adding that with these leaks coming weeks before the next release, the details could be subject to change.
