Described as a "spiritual successor" to the popular Zombie Royale LTM that appeared in The Haunting of Verdansk last year, The Ghosts of Verdansk sees eliminated players turn into ghosts rather than being sent to the Gulag. If a ghost can obtain three souls by eliminating other players, they can spawn back into the action as a human.

Becoming a ghost has its benefits, with players being able to teleport and jump around the map with ease. To increase their chances of killing a target, the Spectral Blast can be used to slow the movement of players as well as disabling vehicles in order to prevent a quick getaway. To earn an instant respawn, simply perform a Finishing Move onto a player. It can be interrupted so be sure nobody is around to prevent your redeployment into the action.

Fear Meter

Alongside the ghostly beings flying around Verdansk, players will also have to manage their Fear Meter in order to evade some mysterious goings-on. Located at the bottom-left of the head-up display (HUD), it can move from 0 to 100. At 50, players will experience hallucinations but there are a number of tasks that can bring the Fear Meter back down to minimal levels. Here's a complete list:

  • Eliminating a player or Ghost.
  • Completing a Contract.
  • Reviving a teammate.
  • Staying within Sacred Ground if it stays intact.

Alongside tasks that lower the Fear Meter, certain activities increase it. Here's what causes the Fear Meter to reach dangerously high levels:

  • Seeing dead bodies or Ghosts.
  • Having teammates downed or killed.
  • Being shot at, being hit by enemy equipment, or having Killstreaks in the area.
  • Camping (AKA cowardice)

Raven Software has yet to reveal what happens when the Fear Meter reaches its maximum level and as soon as we find out, we will update this article with the latest information.

How To Win A Ghosts of Verdansk Match

As with any battle royale game, the last team standing is the winner and for The Ghosts of Verdansk, it's no different. If you and your squad can outlast the ghosts and other teams, you will climb aboard the victory helicopter.
