This article contains SPOILERS for Resident Evil Requiem
In Resident Evil Requiem, the Unicorn Door is one of the first major locked paths you’ll encounter inside the care center.
It’s located on the first floor and blocks access to the Parlor, a room that becomes extremely important for upgrades and progression.
Although it gives off key-required vibes, the lock is linked to a secret item, and surviving the trip to it is the bigger challenge.
When Can You Actually Unlock the Unicorn Door?
You’ll encounter the Unicorn Door early on, but you won’t be able to open it until you’ve progressed further and reached the second floor of the west wing.

Your true objective is the Chairman’s Office, but getting there means navigating multiple hostile areas with limited resources. From the first floor, move through the Kitchen area carefully.
The large chef enemy patrols this space, and early on you likely won’t have the firepower to take him down efficiently. Taking your time and staying observant is the safest approach.
Stay behind cover, move when his back is turned, and avoid unnecessary gunfire that could attract attention. If things go wrong, staggering him and escaping is usually smarter than committing to a full fight.
How Should You Handle the Dining Room?
After leaving the Kitchen, you’ll enter the Dining Room, where multiple zombies are placed to punish careless movement, so staying crouched helps keep your noise and visibility down.

There’s a handgun available on the floor in this section, which is worth picking up, but grabbing it may trigger movement from nearby enemies.
Be ready to either react quickly or exit immediately after collecting it. If you’re low on supplies, you can briefly detour into the Filing Room nearby for additional ammo and a basic melee option.
Continuing onward leads you to a staircase up to the second floor. A roaming zombie may appear on the landing, so either time your movement carefully or stagger it with a precise shot and run past.
Once upstairs, you’ll enter the Bar & Lounge (sometimes referred to as the Gallery area). This section contains multiple enemies, including a woman in a white gown who sings.
You can either wait for an opening and move through quietly, or take them out so they don’t chase you later.
Clearing the room can make backtracking safer, and defeating the singing enemy may reward you with an Antique Coin. There is also an additional handgun behind the bar that can help if your ammo reserves are thin.
Where Is the Unicorn Trinket Box?
Head down the hallway from the Lounge to the Chairman’s Office, deal with any enemies present, and check around the doorway.

You’ll spot a silver or white keepsake box decorated with a unicorn near the entrance, called the Unicorn Trinket Box. This is the key to unlocking the Parlor.
Open your inventory and choose to examine the box rather than trying to use it directly. Rotate it slowly until you notice a hidden latch or symbol on the back.
Interacting with that mechanism reveals a concealed compartment inside the box. The container holds a large Red Jewel that you’ll need to access the Unicorn Door downstairs.
Before leaving, you may want to check the back office for optional items such as puzzle clues or other resources, but the Red Jewel is the critical objective.
Once you have it, prepare for the return trip. Backtracking is often more dangerous than the first climb.
Enemy placements may have shifted, and the chef enemy can now patrol near the corridor where the Unicorn Door is located.
If he blocks your path, don’t waste ammunition trying to fully defeat him unless absolutely necessary. A stagger and quick sprint to the door is usually the most efficient strategy.
How Do You Finally Unlock the Door?
When you reach the Unicorn Door, interact with it and insert the Red Jewel into the slot beneath the unicorn emblem. The mechanism activates, unlocking the Parlor.

Inside the Parlor, you’ll find several valuable rewards. There are Antique Coins that can be spent on upgrade cases along the wall, allowing you to improve inventory capacity, maximum health, and other useful bonuses.
You’ll also find additional ammo and supplies. Most importantly, the East Wing Keycard can be found here, making this room necessary for progressing deeper into the facility.
