How to Get Any Villager for Animal Crossing New Horizons

To get any villager to move into your island in Animal Crossing New Horizons, players can do it one of two ways - either through an Amiibo or through cooperation with another player who has the villager that you want. It's worth bearing in mind that any player who has that villager essentially has to give them up, making them leave their island so they can come to yours. We'll show you both methods below.

How to Get Any Villager with Amiibos and Amiibo Cards

Players with certain Amiibos can use them to get specific villagers to appear at the Campsite. Not all Amiibos do this, but the Animal Crossing Amiibo cards are all compatible and will cause the villager they display to appear. So if you use a Cherry Amiibo Card, the villager Cherry will appear at the Campsite. Here's the exact process:

1. Go to the Nook Stop Terminal near Tom Nook and Isabelle
2. Use it to pick "Invite a Camper"
3. Hold the Amiibo or Amiibo Card to the right thumbstick where the NFC Touchpoint is located

Once you've done this, there'll be a brief cutscene where it shows the new visitor appearing in the Campsite. You can then go speak to them and invite them to join your island! You can do this at time of writing with any of the Amiibo Cards, while most of the larger Amiibo toys offer in-game items and rewards instead.

How to Get Any Villager From Friends' Islands

If you want to get any villager from other players' islands, you can do this by going to visit their island and speaking to that villager. If you do so during a period while they're unhappy and while the owner is taking steps to make them leave the island, there will be special dialogue where they ask if they can come to join yours instead.

Not only does this allow you to take villagers from other islands, it means that certain players have built economies based around trading or handing over certain characters in exchange for Nook Miles Token and other goods. You can find people to trade with at Nookazon or certain Discord servers.
