It's pretty well-established by this point that the Quest 2 is one of the best VR headsets out there, and a large part of that comes from its versatility and the ability to connect to a multitude of devices including PCs, laptops, and also, phones, for the purpose of both setup and also to unlock some rather cool features.

So, here's how to connect your Quest 2 to a phone.

Step 1

If you don't have it already, you'll need to download the Oculus App on your smartphone. You can get it on both Android via the Play Store or in Apple's App Store on iOS. Do note though, you will also need a Facebook account to get started.

Step 2

Note: If you've already completed first-time setup, skip to Step 5.

Now the app's installed and you're all signed in, you'll need to complete the first-time setup procedure using the Oculus App.

You'll be asked to create a VR Profile by entering your username and selecting a profile picture. Once done, hit continue.

Step 3

Once you've created a VR Profile, then you'll be greeted with a Privacy Settings menu where you can choose who gets to see things like your playing activity, username and friends list. When you're done here, hit next.

Step 4

You'll then be asked to select some interests which will be used to advertise games. If you don't want to select any, then simply press Skip.

Step 5

Now it's a case of pairing the Quest 2 with your phone. For this to work, both devices need yo be connected to the same WiFi network, your headset needs to be on and you need to have Bluetooth on on your phone.

If all is well, your phone should automatically pair with your Quest 2, but if not, you'll need to get your headset's pairing code. To do so, put the headset on and the five-digit code should be shown on its display. Enter it into the app to complete the pairing process.

Connecting your phone up is not only useful for the setup procedure, but also for casting game footage to your phone. To do this, simply press the Menu button on your controller to bring up the Universal Menu, and from there, select Sharing, then Cast and press Start.
