Where Is The Sonic Unknown Skin From?

This variant of the iconic blue hedgehog wears a set of high-tech goggles, and some super-boosted shoes too. If you don't recognise this Sonic unknown skin, or the Riders Sonic cosmetic, then there could be a good reason for that - you're a tad too young.

It was first seen in Sonic Riders, a 2006 racing game for the PS2, GameCube, Xbox, and PC. In it, you played as the entire roster of Sonic characters in high-speed races on hoverboards. Yes, for a character famed for going fast, in Sonic Riders the focus is actually not on running. Though we've certainly seen him handicapped in games like All-Stars Racing and the Mario & Sonic franchise, so it's fair to say he's a good sport for slowing down to even out the competition at times.

The Sonic Riders series was something of a modest success for Sega, especially in the murky period following the ill-fated 2006 Sonic the Hegehog reboot that began the long era of noticeably buggy releases that continues today. A sequel to Sonic Riders came out in 2008 for the PS2 and Wii.

That was followed up by Sonic Free Riders in 2010, which was the last time we saw this techno variant on the iconic hedgehog. That is, until Sonic Speed Simulator brought him back as a rare playable skin.

The Sonic Riders skin is actually down as Epic rarity, so the chances are you'll want to grab him through the code before it's made inactive. While he may not play any differently to the base Sonic in the game, it's a neat little nod to a niche entry in Sonic's back catalogue.

That's it for our look at the Sonic Speed Simulator unknown skin! While you're here, feel free to grab some Cookie Run: Kingdom codes for all the gacha goodness you could wish for.
