Death Stranding will also allow for save transfer - something missing from the free PS5 upgrade of DOOM Eternal.

Kojima Productions' head of publishing, Jay Boor, had the following to say:

“We wanted to ensure that players, no matter where they are in their journey, could pick back up relatively in the same area as they left off when playing the PS4 version, while also enabling players who have already completed the game the ability to jump to the areas where new content and equipment can be discovered.”

Hideo Kojima's post-apocalyptic delivery sim will follow the same upgrade path as Ghost of Tsushima, which was recently revealed to be getting a Director's Cut of its own.

We recently opined that Sony's PS5 pricing, and its paid upgrade program, feels increasingly more baffling in the wake of economic uncertainty.

The likes of Marvel's Avengers, FIFA 21, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla and plenty more have offered free upgrades, but Sony's $10 fee remains the outlier.
