Nintendo Shoots Down Switch Pro Speculation

When responding to claims that the OLED Switch would incur higher profit margins compared to its predecessor, Nintendo responded to the suspicion that the long-speculated Switch Pro is in development.

They claim these rumors are untrue:

As well as verifying the October launch for the Switch OLED, Nintendo confirms that no other model is being planned for the time being.

However, this does not rule out the possibility of a Switch Pro in the years to come. Nintendo has explicitly stated that they see the Nintendo Switch as a long-term endeavour, so a 4K Switch could come in the looming future.

Nintendo also likes introducing new consoles with big AAA exclusives. The original Switch was issued with Breath of the Wild and the OLED will release alongside Metroid Dread. It's not completely crazy to predict a Switch Pro launch with the Breath of the Wild sequel in 2022.

But Nintendo has big competition this holiday season. Another portable system in the Steam Deck is due to release this fall. It will be interesting to see how the Switch's superior sales will be impacted by Valve's new console.
