The next Xbox Developer Direct announcement conference has been confirmed, streaming for fans on January 18, 2024.

Revealed by Microsoft on the Xbox Wire blog, the upcoming Developer Direct aims to give fans an “inside look at a selection of highly anticipated games coming to Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass”.

The announcement reveals that fans will see new footage of some of the most anticipated Xbox exclusives video games in the works. Most interestingly, the showcase will give fans their first look at the exclusive Indiana Jones game in development at Wolfenstein studio MachineGames.

Furthermore, Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds 2 studio Obsidian Entertainment will be present at the conference to show off Avowed, their first-person Pillars of Eternity fantasy RPG. As the closest RPG to The Elder Scrolls before the release of Elder Scrolls VI at the end of this generation, this may be an even bigger exclusive than Starfield.

Finally, the Xbox Developer Direct will show off more gameplay of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. Still scheduled for later this year, this conference could include the first reveal of Hellblade II’s final release date. After years of waiting and short trailers, this would be a brilliant thing to see.

Finally, the conference will include a section for Ara: History Untold, a new RTS game from strategy game veterans behind games such as Civilization V.

After the showcase, Xbox will also give players a first look at the future of Elder Scrolls Online, showcasing new content for Xbox, PlayStation and PC users. The reveal will showcase the game’s next major Chapter, zone, storyline, and other major features coming in the game’s “biggest update this year”.

After a rough few years, this Xbox Developer Direct could be the start of a revival period for Xbox. While key exclusives like Hi-Fi Rush may be heading towards new systems, huge exclusives like Avowed and Indiana Jones may end up being the system sellers Xbox needs.
