Super Mario's Chris Pratt Talks Voicing The Iconic Character


Nintendo Direct offered an impressive lineup of gaming announcements, including footage for Bayonetta 3, and even a new 3D Kirby title. But fans also received news on the upcoming Super Mario movie.

The animated film, simply called "Mario", will reportedly be led by Guardian of the Galaxy's and Jurassic World's Chris Pratt. Best known for his role as Star-Lord, Pratt will voice the Italian plumber and reacted to yesterday's announcement through his Instagram.

Super Mario's Chris Pratt Talks Voicing The Character In His Own Movie

The MCU star mentioned that his love for the franchise stems began in his hometown of Lake Stevens, Washington. Pratt used to play in a coin-operated laundromat that had the original Mario Bros game.

Even though he didn't give a snippet of what the character would sound like, he assured fans that the film is progressing well:

You’ll have to wait to hear the voice, but we’ve been working hard at it and I’m really excited to announce that I’m going to be the voice of that video game that I dreamed about playing as a kid. Dreams come true.

In addition to Pratt, other members joining the project include It's Always Sunny's Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and The Queen's Gambit's Anya Taylor Joy as Princess Peach. You can check out the rest of the impressive cast here.
